Nintendo Switch (Currently Plagued) - Here we shit post about the new Nintendo console, The Switch

Not yet, but I got the PC ports of Lost Winds and its sequel. They’re on sale for $6 in a bundle right now.
Oh those got ported? That is great news! Thought they were going to be locked on my Wii forever.

The same post that got me thinking of this also mentioned Bit.Trip. I got all of those on the eShop as they were released and they are a lot of fun. Bit.Trip Runner is the one that eventually took off, but for what it is worth Bit.Trip Beat and Bit.Trip Core are exceptionally good. Void was weird though, but alright.

Edit: Also, apparently it has been leaked that a Yakuza/Like A Dragon collection will be a Switch launch title which was also reported by Spawn Wave.

okay so we might have a release date

Context: This is a Pokémon leak that was posted on /vp/ a long while back, when I was still browsing. That means nothing on its own- but this leak has gotten every single thing right since it was posted. The only thing we don't know yet is that last sentence about a graphics enhancement patch.
That sentence was what made me initially write it off as fake, and leaks like this have been only 90% correct in the past before, so take it with a grain of salt...
...but everything else was right.
  • The DLC title was a bang-on translation and the hexagon motif is everywhere.
  • The clothing reward was also correct and even used the exact update number (didn't say "it's coming with the DLC", didn't default to a 2.0- immediately brought up an accurate version number).
  • Walking Wake and Iron Leaves have identical Japanese names to this leak, as well as identical typings and inspirations (even if the latter was known beforehand due to Heath's journal in the base game).
  • The green mask is Ogerpon, as is the "special Terastal appearance" addendum (though that could also apply to Terapagos seeing as its Terastal form was unveiled before its base one)
  • And Terapagos is that large blue turtle.
  • Also worth mentioning: the image in the leak is a prominent part of the DLC's logo, with the only difference being that the colors are rearranged and the image seems to be mirrored in the final product.

So, if this leak is correct and there is a graphics patch coming with the second part of the DLC, then a new Switch model will be releasing in late 2023. I'm guessing sometime in November/December.

I am honestly very apprehensive, as I've stated before, because this seems way too early- at least, for anything significant. If there's a "new model", I think it'll be OLED-esque at best instead of a sequel, because otherwise there'd be no reason for there to have been 0 marketing so far. Not even an official reveal or anything. But, if this leak is 100% correct, then we might have something by the end of the year.

That'd essentially be a shadow drop, definitely not gonna be Switch 2 in that case, just Switch Pro imo. I doubt any new hardware is releasing this year.

I've heard that the PC ports for some of those games can be screwy, but Runner always played fine for me.

There is zero chance we're getting a Switch Pro at this point. Switch 2 is a year away, give or take a couple months.

I pretty much agree, but if we did get something this year it would have to be a Pro and not a successor between the two. I don't think we're getting anything, even a minor revision like a Switch Mini or Lite OLED or anything (as neat as they'd be).

This year? They already announced the Christmas season bundles and no revision is present.

Edit: In regards to the Pokeleaker, I don't doubt that he's telling the truth, but that revision can easily be done now for cost reasons and then held until Switch 2 is ready. Wouldn't be the first time Nintendo has done that, they've even done it with Pokemon in the past.

I think this is the posters poor English. I think what he means is that the graphics patch will be released alongside the DLC, and the graphics patch itself is for the new Switch that will come out later. There were leaks a while ago about Nintendo hiring people to work on next gen patches for older games, so if this is a real leak then they are finishing the patch before the new console is out so that its ready to go, not that a new Switch will release at the same time as the DLC.

fak, I'm 2nd in a Grand Prix, god damn Silence after getting first in Death Wind and I had a lot of KO's, my power bar was loooooooong.

Yeah, More than likely developers are always working on things pretty early so they can get things done on time. Nintendo would not shadow drop new hardware on us unless they just want another Wii u situation. Or, it could be possible maybe the next console was supposed to come out this holiday but, was internally delayed another year to better prep for a launch lineup.

Why didn’t anyone tell me that Pikmin 1+2 recently were remastered for the Nintendo Switch? Even if it is a GC port, I genuinely am surprised that I missed that.
Its a barebones port that they also censored on top of everything else:

They lazily upscaled some of the UI textures and a few various objects, but also replaced a bunch of branded items and also just stretched the UI out. The intro cutscenes were cropped because they were already letterboxed, and then AI upscaled. It's not worth it if you have the games already on Wii or Gamecube, or know how to use an emulator.

Wow, very extensive to see here.

Personally, I found it confusing to get rid of “wife” and “husband”, but I didn’t know that they cropped original scenes that were in the GC and the Wii versions. As someone that likes looking at old cutscene footage from the old games, that one stings, especially with a famous game series like Pikmin of all things.

I wasn't clear with that part, the original cutscenes were letterboxed widescreen on a 4:3 output, they zoomed them in cropping the black bars and then AI upscaled from that, so it looks kinda stanky but you aren't losing any of the frame.

The 'Gendered Language' is a thing that Treehouse now goes out of their way to remove. Xenoblade 3 is a pretty big example of it, all the characters say 'they' most of the time when referring to someone and its always infuriating. Apparently one of the heroes (voiced by a tranny) is 'non binary' because of the retarded localizing where they characters call her a they despite seeing its a woman but never talking to her yet. She's also a woman in the Japanese version.

And just to confirm, the originals were all accurate translations?

I would assume so, but you would have to ask one of the moon rune speakers in the localization thread to know for sure. Considering they are completely different in the Switch version and only the 'offensive gendered language' stuff got changed I think its censorship and not a 'more accurate translation'

Even if it is more accurate, we all know that's not the intent anyway.
