The ship is off the coast of Italy in the Adriatic Sea. Considering the vessel and its escorts have a speed of something like 30 knots and the distance from Vieste to the Israeli port of Haifa, the carrier group should arrive in the East Mediterranean in approximately 2-3 days though it may launch aircraft earlier.

The Gerald Ford CSG was already routinely patrolling that area prior to the military actions taken by Hamas. Last month they were conducting exercises alongside the Italian navy.
