Unpopular Opinions about Video Games

despite my initial response to the Wii U gamepad thinking it resembled a ds with two remotes stuck to the sides once I had one, I liked it a lot. It was comfortable to hold and despite the fact hardly anything on the console was worth a fuck, games that utilized it owned. having the map or your inventory on that screen without having to pause the game was the shit and multiplayer where one person could use that screen another the tv was awesome too.

The Wii u is worth having to mod the vwii alone (I got one for that purpose to put every Wii and GameCube game ever & emulators on it for my hdtv and bc my 3D could figure it out before she'd ever understand how to use a computer or retroarch) but the console could really have kicked ass if it had more third party shit that utilized it properly.

As it stands it was a failure I enjoyed more than disliked. I wish if nothing else it would have had its eshop full of ports/remasters of old rpgs or something that used the gamepad for maps and shit. when I modded a 3ds after the Wii u I couldn't help but think the entire time I played the Dragon Quest 7 remake and 8 remaster how awesome they'd have been on the Wii u with the gamepad used the way the bottom screen was.

that being said while they're cheap if you have a retarded female or kids it's a perfect system to mod and set up for everything up to the ps1 era emulated, gc/wii & Wii u libraries and for couch co-op.
I'm still pissed over how underutilized the Wii U's gamepad was.
They should've released a Pokemon Snap sequel for the Wii U, as well as a version of Minecraft with a crafting system actually designed specifically for the Wii U's touchscreen gamepad.

Zombii U's multiplayer was the fucking tits.

For those who didn't have the chance to play it, imagine playing the Mercenaries Mode from the Resident Evil games, while the guy with the touchpad controller takes the role of the AI Director from Left 4 Dead, spawning enemies and hazards to fuck over the player. It was great.

A major reason I could not care less about the Wii U after it died was the outrageous loading times throughout the console. They were bad when the thing was new, I was certain they'd patch them to make it faster, and they just never did.

Plus, the home screen is depressing, considering it was tied so closely to the internet, and all of that was pulled I think like a month after the Switch came out. So now we have a slow piece of shit console with an expensive, bespoke controller you can't easily replace at all, and a library that's almost entirely obsolete thanks to Switch ports.

you know what romhacker fags need to work on? hacks that if not on hardware at the very least work on emulators that enhance draw distance in older games. I think ape escape 1 is one of the very few games I'd say is damn near perfect I 100% it like every year or two. However the draw distance shoves my dick in a desk drawer every time. you legitimately can see like what would be 20/30 feet in front of you and that's it. it sucks. and before someone says if you want to play ape escape 1 play the psp remake it has better draw distance and graphics, no. fuck you, the controls are horrendous.

disco elysium is a 6 and not more then that, it has it fun momments and has interesting gameplay but the second time i tried playing it I just quit and felt like the writing was mediocre at best. But i have to say they did the mind games pretty well and gave various personality features and body of ours actual personality which was great and the ending was a 10, but these are the only postive points i could fine plus the game is not fleshed out and felt like a short lived crazy trip.

Though i want to like the game, I just cant and it bites me a lot as i dont want to be associated with its fanbase at all and the amount leftist bullshit written in it is just meh. Its the same with alan moore works, i want to enjoy it but i shed a tear knowing that the creator of the IP is a massive fag.........thank you OP for letting me vent about disco elysium

I played both and the PSP controls adequately, I beat it anyway.

Not in the 60s, the era you're complaining about, they weren't. The marketing from the time is targeted at children and preteens. Here's an ad from The Amazing Spider-Man #97, published 1963. It's clearly being marketed at children.

Claiming that the only reason women in Marvel comics aren't "one-dimensional harpies who only exist to make men miserable" is because of "feminism" completely ignores how many books, movies, TV shows, and the like existed at the time where they weren't portrayed that way. If women need feminism to not be portrayed as massive bitches nobody likes, why wasn't Nora Charles a nasty cunt in the Thin Man? Why wasn't Laura Petrie a nasty harridan on the Dick Van Dyke Show? Why is every Dickens girl an angel?

The answer is because "everyone hated women, treated them like shit, and portrayed them as inhuman beasts before feminism made them change" is a total fiction. If anything, a female character being Queen Resting Bitchface is far more common today than it was in 1963.
To back that up, here's a page from ASM #99. Gwen is portrayed as the opposite of feminism: sweet and caring for her boyfriend Peter.

It was literally a tech demo for the dual sticks and it's actually a great game at that. The song in the Asian theme level still is playing in my head as I type this but I cannot even recall the level's fucking name.

I played Genshin for like 10 minutes and found it very lame. I don't know what the hell anyone sees in that game.
The waifus, that's it.
Playing through Far Cry 6 on Playstation 5 has got me realizing how much I fucking hate "open world" games.
Most "open world" games take after the Ubisoft formula, where there's a lot of level geometry but very little to actually do. Good open world games are rare, and nowadays I prefer a more linear world if it means a better designed and more cohesive experience.

I was going to try it when they announced it for Switch, but it never happened, so I guess they don't want me to play their shitty gacha chink game, which is fine by me.

I still don't care what anybody says, but skyrim is a cozy af game. People always talk about what was lost though the series while ignoring the new features (like smithing for example)
Agreed. Having just played it recently, it made me realize that I've never actually hated any Elder Scrolls game I've played--yes each installment loses something, but gains something else.

My starter drug was Daggerfall, which was chaotic, buggy, full of procedural generation, and one fucking awesome trip of a game. Literally a game where it felt like you could do anything. The only thing close to it is Minecraft, but Daggerfall at least made it feel like you could have an affect on the world--if for no other reason than because of the reputation system. One of these days I need to actually play through the main quest (the only Scrolls game I've actually beaten is Arena).

Skyrim for me represents the opposite end of the spectrum: sure, a lot of the "chaos" and "freedoms" of Daggerfall are curtailed but the flip side is I'm actually a lot more invested in the game as a story and experience and not just a glorified toy. More than once I've had the experience of hearing some random conversation that leads to me getting sidetracked and doing a subquest not because I expect a reward, but just because I'm actually invested in the story.

The waifus, that's it.
Am I the only person on the planet who honestly does not find modern anime girls very attractive at all?

I hate how they all have exactly the same build--big butts and boobs--even when one is supposed to be the loli and the other is supposed to be a more mature type. I hate the stupid impractical costumes nobody would ever think to wear IRL. I hate the stock personalities that never vary at all.

It's amazing that an OVA from 1989--Devil Hunter Yohko--gives us way more variety. Yohko and her best friend Chigako both have noticably different bodies, while the teacher actually looks like an adult. When episode two introduces the resident little kid, she's not impossibly sexy but just... looks like a kid. These are characters I can imagine people getting attracted to.

The problem with "perfect women" is that "perfect" is another word for "boring."

Boy oh boy, that is some trite character design. Does the Genshin world have a legal requirement that all women must have a spike of hair covering their forehead? It looks like every generic modern anime ever, like it was pulled straight out of an AI generator.

I tried it on PS4 after hearing it was like Breath of the Wild. Oh ho ho, it sure as hell wasn't. I had one of those moments where I swear it felt like I was shifting universes when some midget toddler-shaped girl was being an annoying tutorial, and I thought back to how I used to read discussion about how so many people thought Navi in Zelda OoT was annoying, and now we've got this thing that's like a hundred times more annoying, but I guess the fanbase likes her? What the hell happened? It's like I universe-shifted into a world full of pedophiles.

edit:
Am I the only person on the planet who honestly does not find modern anime girls very attractive at all?
Hahahaha, I was thinking the same thing while typing my post. Amen, amigo.

You know, I never got the Navi hate, she's helpful at best, a very minor inconvenience at worst. People really blew that out of proportion.

They're still pleasant looking compared to the western slop being served up, but yeah, they're just "there", inoffensive and unremarkable.

It's easy to be attractive when Sony makes MJ look like a 35 year old who works at Wal-Mart.
