He could've done it to hide evidence of past abuse in fear it could incriminate him, or they might've had an altercation there which then progressed to him dropping her off in the woods. I haven’t read this theory put forward yet regarding the gas station. If it has been, then I apologize. Assuming JF is being honest about dropping Elora off at the gas station, I’ve been having trouble reconciling the idea that he dropped off Elora; and then either she made her way back to JF, or JF went back to find her. What if, they went to the gas station, but they both went home, not just JF. My thinking is as follows:
JF and Elora go to the gas station for whatever reason. JF drops Elora out front. She goes into the gas station to do whatever (i.e., use the restroom, buy a drink, etc.). While she’s inside, JF parks the car (out of sight of the CCTV). Elora gets back in the car, and they go home. Later, shit goes down.
Once the RCMP start asking questions, JF gives them the whole “dropped off at the gas station to go on an adventure” story.

I have been thinking about this, the sighting is surely bullshit if it's a witness who came forward? Because I realized that nobody was even looking for her for 4 months. So a person is thinking back 4 months to a person they had no reason at the time to pay special attention to.
The details of the sighting could change this. But someone coming forward after 4 months saying "oh yes I saw her on the 19th, definitely that day, she was wearing this exact outfit I will now describe"... It's talking some "Rain Man" level stuff. To not only remember the woman but also remember the day.
There would have to be a very specific reason to believe testimony of this nature. An elongated conversation, perhaps someone got her name, camera footage, etc.
I'm thinking the tip about her being in Moncton was a red herring put out by either JF or one of his fans, UNLESS one of the homeless shelters or clinics has a record of Elora showing ID, but that homeless shelter on Albert street has been known to not co-operate with cops.
