We Exist: We Will Resist.
The transphobic and racist rhetoric coming from the government seeks to deny our existence and pit us against each other. But we know we cannot be erased and we will not be divided.
Queer solidarity smashes borders: The fight for trans liberation is a fight against a racist border regime that detains and deports people that the state sees as disposable. Trans people, asylum seekers and migrants are being used as political scapegoats to distract from the government prioritising profits over people, and sinking millions of people further into despair and poverty. But we’re not having it.
This scapegoating has led to many trans people experiencing an increase in exclusion, homelessness and violence. Earlier this year, we lost Brianna Ghey, a young trans girl, to this rhetoric and we refuse to stand by silently whilst a fascist government puts more people at risk.
The history of trans and queer people and resistance around the world is rich, undeniable and has always stood against patriarchy, racial capitalism and oppression (including Zionism). We’re powerful, we’re beautiful and we’re not going fucking anywhere.
For Brianna, for Banko Brown, for all trans and oppressed people, we will continue to resist. We are everywhere and we will continue to live as ourselves, love each other fiercely and build joyful communities in which all can thrive. None of us are free until we are all free.
