2023 Israel-Palestine Armed Conflict

I have an Arabic in-law who has been so pro-Palestine for years that she has artwork of Linda Sarsour hanging in her house. She was born and raised in America, extremely liberal, no longer wears a hijab, is tattooed and pansexual, samples alcohol/pork, and is married to a white Catholic man, but thinks she would be welcome in Palestine. She has been posting social media stories in support of Hamas and Palestinians but doesn't have the balls to post anything permanent on a main page. I live near one of the biggest Arabic/Muslim diasporas in the country which is where she is from, so many mutual friends have the same opinion.

However, they are a minority. Apart from their 5%, I'd say 70% of people around me irl are pro-civilian without taking a side and 25% are pro-Israel. The ones who posted pro-Palestine messages early on are beginning to delete and shut down conversation.

Notably, a lot of my friends who ordinarily mouth off about political topics and always have an opinion, are dead silent on taking a side on this issue. I think they're too afraid of making a public statement on way or another for fear of someone screencapping or arguing with them about it.
so would you say they are for the most part pro-Israel blowing Hamas the fuck out?

Pro civilian, slightly horrified at the realization that a whole lot of people are going to die. As in way, way more than usual.
What does Procivilian mean?

Israel has graciously given the hospital an additional 6 hours to pack up shop and get the fuck out

I know on a PR basis this is the right move, and I know Israel wants to keep the wave of good PR going by looking absolutely merciful compared to Hamas, but Arabs manipulative fucks and will drag out this evacuation as long as possible.

So Kiwis in your IRL lives what's the room temp for this conflict? Are they pro Israel pro palestine/Hamas? What's the gauge?

Family are pro-Israel, for the most part. Haven't been asking my neighbors because the neighborhood I'm in has a sandnigger infestation.

perhaps because Islam wasn't a big threat to Europe for a couple of centuries before Israel became America's "greatest ally" and got their goy cattle to fight their wars of regime change and destabilization in the middle east. (YES I KNOW THAT HOSTILITIES BETWEEN CHRISTENDOM AND PAX ISLAMICA HAVE EXISTED FOR CENTURIES BUT THEY MOSTLY DIED DOWN FOR 200 YEARS LEADING UP TO THE FOUNDING OF ISRAEL)

islam wasn't a threat to europe because europe had conquered and occupied most islamic states, and the remaining ones were so far behind in the technology arms race that they couldn't even dream about touching european powers

it's not a "wow they were so friendly and peaceful" situation, more a "lol they were so weak and powerless" situation.

Israel so far, but I did see Hamas posters that posters that people put up last week. If this were 22ish years ago in the aftermath of eleventy september, the people who hung those up would get to spend some quality time with a few very glowing individuals.

As for me, I'm personally neutral, decided to refrain from posting up until now, and think that both sides had a hand to play in escalating this to where it is. Other countries also poured enough gasoline on the fire for their own geopolitical reasons with Iran and the U.S. being the worst offenders here.
The most optimistic outcome would be a scenario where Israel realizes that no matter the reason, ratcheting up the military response (beyond border defense and targeted strikes of key military elements of course, the jews should defend themselves when their citizens are being dragged away to be used as collateral, raped, probably killed) will likely destabilize the entire region and pit them at odds with the majority of their neighbors. If Netanyahu and his party can put political aspirations aside and accept that he may be kicked out for negotiating, Hamas and Tel Aviv could start the dialog needed to secure a peace agreement, make reasonable concessions and end this needlessly violent conflict.

No matter where you people lean or support, I think most people can agree that based on everything we've archived that documents civilians being unnecessarily killed and their bodies desecrated in horrifyingly brutal ways is really bad and at the end of the day, the civilians caught in the crossfire suffer the largest burden of this war. The governments in Palestine and Israel set the stage for this to happen, but their citizens ultimately suffer the consequences of those decisions.

What is the point of using fireworks? Serious question.
I thought I read earlier in this thread that they could be used to diffuse the sound of gunfire. I don't necessarily believe that, but it's a possibility.

1900 killed in Gaza, including 614 children

Why do some journalist keep bringing that up? I am not aware of a single law of war that forces you to feed and supply enemy civilians in (!) enemy territory. I also can't really think of any examples in history (police actions pseudo wars don't count). I think in late WW2 the Americans provided food for the Netherlands but that were allied civilians in German occupied territory.
It's only after you occupy the territory that it becomes your responsibility again.
with the sole exception of the small egyptian border on the south, Israel controls all the borders of gaza and blockades their sea access. And when it comes to the egyptian border they threatened to bomb any supplies coming from there. I think gaza had a desalination plant done in the last few years but it's a moot point if there's no electricity, and you can't even get generators going because you can't get fuel across the border now.

Most people I know just think that civilians getting murked sucks, no matter who does it. After this attack most opinions I hear, even from guys that have genrally always been pro Palestine, is that at this point Hamas has to go and that any talk of a peaceful solution is wasted breath.
I think Hamas posting videos online, basically celebrating being barbarians, turned a lot of opinions in favor of Israel, even though my more liberal friends aren't ready to admit it yet.

Ireland's traditionally very pro-Palestine and the usual suspects are very much still leaning in that direction, IE. students, Republicans (the Irish kind for Amerimutts), retards etc. However when I talk to people back home I noticed that there's been a definite shift of opinion in the less politically switched on. Almost all of them have seen some raw footage from the attack and quite understandably it's shook them to the point where they're actually questioning themselves, or they just don't want to think about it anymore, and these were people who were very hardcore pro-Muzzie not too long ago.

I think the advent of social media on warfare is something we still haven't come to fully appreciate, and especially what it means for propaganda and international support. It's one thing to read about an atrocity or a war crime and just memory hole it as a 'well that's unfortunate', it's another thing entirely to see it happen in HD while the cunt doing it is smiling and making soyfaces.

Taking photos to show happened, yeah I understand that, they're war journalists they probably see this all the time.
But fucking picking up his leg and casually dropping it next to him for a "better picture"

I felt like that was weird too. But then I thought about it. I mean it belongs to him. It would be weirder to just let it lie there when you know where it is. Like make him complete in a way.

If he's Jewish, he must be buried in his entirety, so that he can be raised in his entirety on the last day. You'll sometimes see special Jewish hunters picking through the rubble to make sure they've got all the bits of somebody.

But even if he's NOT Jewish, what cracked out nigger country do you people come from where you just leave blown off limbs lying around? Guy doesn't care about a picture, he's just putting the body together for whoever picks it up to put in a body bag. You know, like a normal person.

So far only really mentioned it to one person and they are just really sad about all the conflict and death, and basically hinted they werent really going to keep up with any news on it and just get the tldr once it is over. I also went for a walk in my neighborhood the day this all started, supposedly one chillest suburbs in the US, (low crime, homeless almost nonexistant and the ones that do exist everyone is friendly to, can leave things in my car without worrying too much about theft, etc) and some lady was having a mental breakdown (I assume) shouting on the corner of a walking trail about the government and end times stuff. Was odd because it wasnt even like, a street corner, just a row of houses that backed up to a walking trail and I think she just walked outside her front door and just began freaking out. Couldnt quite get the gist of if she was maybe Jewish and that caused it or what, but that type of thing is unheard of here you have to go way further in the city to find these types. Very out of the ordinary and really struck me.

It's so refreshing to see Westoid government men not talk like weasels for once. Like October 2001 days :feels:
That's outweighed for me by the sense of dread knowing that in 5-10 years our politicians, many of them the same people, will be saying "we in the the west meddled and destabilised and bombed and genocided the middle east, it is our solemn duty to help mend what we've caused by taking in eleventy billion more islamist radicals refugees"
I've never seen someone post so many comments with such a fitting face in their profile pic.

I find it odd the FBI only now giving a damn about Antifa after they started to praising HAMAS along with Breadtube. Timing is just coincidence I am sure.
"Oy Vey Rabbi Judah! The Golem is on the loose and its mad! We got ta do something!"
"CAUTION: Golem may malfunction and attack if its owner gets too cocky."

It's like their rabbis don't even read them that part of the story.
Not paying attention to the moral of stories is probably why they're banned in a lot of places.

Everyone is sick of the shit.
Even the boomers who just watch TV all day don't want to be involved with it.

My impressions from people I've spoken to are that the three most common takes are:

"Hamas killed babies, and there were scary people firing fireworks at the Israeli embassy HERE! The Jewish schools closed or told the children not to wear their uniforms to school just in case! Israel has to bomb Palestine to stop another holocaust, the civilians can evacuate."

"Hamas shouldn't have killed babies but Israel basically brought this on itself and they need to instantly stop any activity right now because they're being wildly disproportionate."

"I feel that this is kind of our fault at a bit, and I don't agree with Hamas killing babies and I think Israel needed to do something, but I also don't agree with Israel trying to do ethnic cleansing, which is what they know they're doing, so I'm just going to hand-wring like a pussy because I can't parse this properly and keep circling"

FWIW I'm camp number 3. I'm not close to anyone in real life who's got one of those insane hardline stances on "this is what decolonisation looks like" or one of those "eliminate all Palestinians" stances, but as a palette cleanser here's my pet cow Ollie (Philosophytube) saying something spectacularly tone-deaf

The video reply under it is some screencap of another video of a livestream bullshit, but ignoring the format, it has a kid crying:

...and no fault to the kid. Horrible shit. But at the same time, someone is filming that kid, while either telling him or showing him a dead brother, to create a messages, to add to a specific narrative. It takes me back to people who brought their kids to anti-war protests .. the kids are there with their parents, but don't know what any of it is about. The Gretta Thurnbering annoys me to no end.
