We did contact the parents. We also fully reported the person in question to the police, and have informed them that the law is getting involved. The parents didn't take anything that was said to them seriously and decided to block us, like we were some sort of spam bots. Admitting to contacting her parents and trying to get her arrested for Felony Discord Bullying. In addition, that sentence immediately tells me that you know exactly what the accuser is talking about and are intentionally attempting to distance from and downplay it by stating things like "most playable characters are adults". Normal innocent people would never bring that up at all. And then you whip out the "they're fictional anyway" defense on top of that.

Pairing that with the other information you tried to direct me away from allows me to rephrase what you said into an equivalent but less socially acceptable sentence that goes something like "You can play as minors in this game but I'm not a pedophile because they're fictional". Saying it that way makes the issue glaringly obvious. Why does someone who isn't a pedophile feel the need to both imply that they play as minors in the game and justify it by saying they are fictional if their affinity for the characters does not stretch beyond things like enjoying the mechanics associated with them, e.g. maining Pichu in Smash Bros vs. Pikachu? If you didn't play as these characters, you wouldn't have felt the need to defend their existence by saying they are fictional.
