There has been continuous low-level war all over the planet since WWII. Proxy wars between the USA and the Soviet Union reigned until the latter's collapse, and, of course, the USA has been continually engaged in wars of choice since Desert Storm. The USA has also been involved in extending civil wars into massive bloodshed because our official policy has been to identify whomever is losing as the "good guy" and arm them juuuuussst enough to keep the war going endlessly.
"Democracy" hasn't had any external military threats since the collapse of imperial Marxism in 1991, you retarded niggerfaggot. There is no major or even second-rate military power on earth whose leadership has some sort of ideological problem with some other country somewhere else having multi-party elections. The only important enemies of democracy today live in Washington, D.C., who regard any government, domestic or foreign, that doesn't do what they want as invalid, and will use any means necessary to overthrow it, including corrupting the local electoral system itself.

Had Trump not won in 2016, the Ukraine invasion would've happened right then and there. Russia has no interest in taking Europe. We denied them access to the pipeline they wanted to establish with the EU. Russia CAN'T take the EU.
