Digimon

The overall plot is Last Evolution all over again.
Somehow I'm not surprised by this. It was clearly the 02's cast's turn to experience growing up and potentially losing their partners forever.

The villain better be an actual Digimon and a real threat this time.
It's actually worst than Kizuna, as that actually focuses on 3 of the chosen (Taichi, Yamato, and Koushiro. This one makes it clear that it's a story about the new guy whose Digimon is responsible for all the events of the Adventure because his dad was a drunk. Apparently half the movie is a flashback about his sad childhood and there's no new forms, so the p2 cast continues to be shafted. They really need to stop hiring these directors that masturbate over their own deepness

Wait, wait, wait! What? Hang on, can you clarify this because my brain just shut down for a moment when I read the part that I highlighted. Are you trying to tell us that this Gary Stu character out of nowhere, is somehow responsible FOR STARTING THE ENTIRE SERIES?! :story: :story: :story: :story: :story: :story: :story:

When he was a kid in 1996 he wished that everyone would have a Digimon, meaning he was responsible for the chosen getting theirs. And he ended up killing him because he was sad. He's the biggest fucking sue in the franchise who makes Meiko look well-written

From Yufie in our WtW Discord:

This is what I managed to perceive after watching the movie (I couldn't understand 100%, felt like a fake N2)

- Preview screening starts with voice actors talk show. Veemon showed to take picture (I posted in r/digimon)
- No armor form or new jogress form
- There is a reason why Lui hides his right eye
- Like the other guy said, the jogress form purely serves as a fan service, in fact, paildramon appeared like 10 minutes into the movie (Daisuke were trying to get Lui to reach that floating egg, I thought it will stop with Ex-Veemon evolution but nooo they went straight to Stingmon > Jogress scene).
- OG Adventure kids only show as cameos on TV screen, acting as representative of the Digidestined discussing the whole "digitama-on-top-of-tokyo-tower"
- The scene in trailer showing young Taichi and Hikari walking away carries no weight. Daisuke, Ken, and Lui were transported to the past when they "touched" the Digitama. The day before Lui met Ukkomon."
- Lui living in Hikarigaoka carries no importance at all. I thought they are going to rectonned it with the first movie.
- Lui lived on an abusive household. His dad was bedridden and his mom, unable to carry the burden well, took it out on Lui.
- Ukkomon is a digimon that could grant any wish. Ukkomon made Lui's dad healthy again, made Lui became friends with people in school. Protected him. In fact, they retconned this by saying all Digidestined appeared because Lui "wished for a friend that would protect him"

When Lui said he "killed Ukkomon", what he did was smashing his own digivice with a bat after finding out what was happening, and some thing happened, and Ukkomon dissolved into nothingness.
- Some scene on Diaboromon Strike back movie as TV screen.
- Lui being born on 29 February carries some significant weight: it was the day he met Ukkomon. ANd then after the whole backstory was told, the clock strikes 12am on 29 February 2021 (I didn't check if it was a leap year or not), and Digitama on top of Tokyo Tower hatched into some grotesque calamari thingy with a lot of Digitama seed in the making.
- In movie time (2021), it is said that there are around 60,000 Digidestined around the world. Ukkomon seemed to want to accelerate this process by incubating Digitama for the whole 7 billion people in the world.
- They wanted to launch an attack on that Calamari Ukkomon, but Takeru warned that if Ukkomon was the reason for the existence of all Digidestined, defeating them would also mean Digidestined losing connections with their partner digimon.
- Lui seemed being the key to stop Ukkomon
- The final and only battle in the movie took place. Imperialdramon transported Lui to "touch" Ukkomon again, transported to past, seemed to change the past and made it so that young Lui never meet Ukkomon
- Adult Lui and Ukkomon talked things out and appear to reach an understanding
- After Lui returned to the present, they proceeded to attack Ukkomon to take it down.
- After it ends, every Digidestined in the world lost their digivices, but their partners are still around. Might hint that evolution is not possible anymore.
- A lot of cameo from International Digidestined from 02 series, including Wallace with his Terriermon and Lopmon
- Movie ends there. No retcon at all to epilogue.

- The thing that made Lui snapped and confronted Ukkomon was watching Omegamon fought Armageddomon in TV, realized other Digidestined he has not even befriended had to fight for his sake because of his wish "having a friend that would protect him"

GOD DAMN! LMAO!

AND WHAT THE HELL ARE THOSE SPOILERS?! ROFL!

OF-FUCKING-COURSE!

I'm fourteen, and this is deep, the movie! Everybody! :story:

But the previous movie already said "HURR DURR ADULTS CAN'T KEEP DEY DEJIMANS" (even though we know that's bullshit but the movie never showed otherwise) holy shit they're not even bothering to try to stay consistent.

Are they that desperate to retcon the time skip epilogue at the end of 02 or something? I know a lot of people hate it because their ships didn't happen, but even the Digidestined as adults still had their Digimon in it.

Apparently the epilogue still hasn't been retconned. The problem is that we're not getting an actual bridge to link the second season to its epilogue, or at least it's not a good structural bridge when that's all fans have been asking for. (Tri was believed to be it, but it really wasn't, and Matt wanting to win at the dick-measuring contest by deciding "Oh, Tai's going to study overseas to be some ambassador of sorts? Guess I'll become an astronaut to one-up him. :p" was such a fucking cop-out.) There's the fringe few still crying about the epilogue and want it changed, but we really just want to know the how, is all.

There was an interview with the producer and director where they said the epilogue was a mistake because times change but in reality it's because it cuts off all tension and they can't milk it forever.

Which ones, previous producer and director, or current? Because I don't care what the current people have to say about it, they weren't the ones behind it.
Seki was the producer for the first 4 seasons as well as the current Adventure producer. She's the one who said it. She was originally the one who made their backstories and was apparently involved in Ken's

What's the best way to learn how to play the current card game? Is there an online replica site like yugioh had?

There was an app that thought the basics but I forgot the name. There is a board on it on Reddit and 4chan
usually these generals are a good way to get into these smaller card games. Or at cons and if they have Digimon events there's usually people there that teach you

The new batch of directors are tying too hard to be deep amd emotional. Like for all the growing up themes they try to do, Hurricane Touchdown actually did it much better with Wallace learning that he had to move on. Both the original adventure series were subtle with their messages and didn't beat you over the head with them, as opposed to tri, kizuna, and now the beginning

Can someone please make sense of this? Is this another form of Japanese melodrama? What in fuck's name made this retard think (I'm referring to both the writer and character) that his wish had anything to do with the shit the chosen children went through?

Wait a second doesn’t this just outright contradict not only 02 but like every piece of material from all of the Adventure lore. Does this take place in some kind of alternate universe or something? Because this just seems like a super retcon made by people who have no knowledge or don’t care about the past works and just want to shove their faggot OC into a place he doesn’t make sense to be. The original series seemed to make a point that you became a digidestined after witnessing a Digimon event in the real world. I mean one of Adventures plot points was that everyone in Taichis group had been the only witnesses to the “Odaiba Terror Attack” the Parrotmon vs Greymon battle. Then I believe 02 followed this up with that group of kids mentioning (even being showned) to have watched the first Omegamon fight. Plus I may be misremembering but wasn’t it made pretty clear in the original Adventure that Taichis group weren’t even the first chosen children who explored the Digital World? That being chosen wasn’t a “THESE ARE THE CHOSEN SUPER SPECIAL AWESOME KIDS” situation. But more of a “This is the new batch of kids let’s hope they do better than the last ones” type of deal? Also I guess they are going to continue to forget that Ryo existed lol.

Again I could be mistaken since it’s been forever since I watched all this stuff but I am a Digimon loser so I waste brain space remembering this trash lol. Oh another thing but the series always seemed to set up, at least to me, that Taichi and Daisukes groups weren’t really the “super special awesome” kids but that they were just the ones there at the moment when the digital world needed someone and they had already met the requirements to get a Digimon. Nothing about any of them expect maybe Hikari, was shown to make them more special and important than any other digidestined. I could be wrong about that and am forgetting what made all of them more important but that’s just what I’m remembering.

It does. Taichi and Hikari met Agumon in 95 and that convinced Homostasis that partnered Digimon grew at a faster rate. That same year Wallace received his Digimon. It was already decided that humans would be getting partnered with Digimon by 1996, meaning the fairy shit is the stupidest retcon so far. At least Meiko didn't shit on the past lore, she was just a bad character
