Any word on whether Kayla attended the event or not?
That had to feel patronizing. Cause usually small gig comedians are dressed super casually. It's all for fun! Nick on the other hand looks like he's about to go on set for Kings of Comedy, when really, you're trying to cheer up some folks in the boonies with your bullshitting.
I hope he gets told to do bigger places just get the same treatment Mersh did: no one caring and talking over his shitty jokes.
Its pretty obvious that he is trying to portray an image of a rich stylish playboy type that quit lawyering to make bank as an "Internet shock jock" and is now into comedy, both on his show and in person. This was obvious since he got those professional headshots. The fact that Dick and Riley are now all over him is probably not a coincidence, they are hyping up this image in the same way that Dick molded the "Ralphamale" persona. The only thing it's missing is a catchy nickname like "Ralphamale".
The smart play would have been to show up in the same clothes he does his show in to avoid looking foolish, and to play it off as something he's doing for fun to keep expectations low. But that doesn't fit with the persona. It's pretty clear that the live shows are the only things he's enjoyed doing in 2023 other than maybe the Friday FunStreams, but those often morphed into screaming rants about Kiwi Farms or other assorted detractors.
during the whole Monty thing Rekieta has said a couple of very female-like comments kinda jokingly asking why he got in trouble and not Jim, pretty much saying they are "both the same" in this situation, but Jim got scot-free.
and the obvious reason is that Jim only comments on things, doesn't really get involved, always uses allegedly when saying something and if proven wrong he apologizes for the mistake and moves on, and Rekieta instead says that whatever he says is gospel and 100% true and will double down as many times as he can.
It would require verification from Jim, or some other piece of evidence, if Monty wanted to go after Jim, yes.
The issue isn't just that it could aggro Monty back onto Jim. It's also that nobody should want to be depicted as the origin of a bullshit claim if you know you didn't make the claim. Especially THAT claim.
The other thing to keep in mind is that it's not just a matter of whether he decides to try suing Jim.
Jim is at risk at being dragged into this case, if not as a witness at trial, then certainly in the discovery phase. Plausibly either Monty or Rekieta could both decide that he needs to be deposed. I recall Rekieta saying something, I think around the time they finalized the discovery plan, about how Monty had provided an initial list of potential witnesses who Monty thought Rekieta was working with, and people would be shocked at who was on it, which I took to POSSIBLY mean that Jim was on the list.
Any person who has had public or private communications about Montagraph with Rekieta is at risk of being drawn into the trashfire, especially now that Rekieta's defense appears to be lack of actual malice. And it's all because of Rekieta's stupidity.
Being deposed is obviously less expensive than being sued, though it could still result in photos or videos of Jim being published.
