Grift Wars CENTCOM - Meta discussion for the Grift Wars board.

Does Godwinson go here or internet famous?
Godwinson, for all of his many faults, is not a grifter. Unless something has changed during the current arc, Godwinson has always autistically maintained Kino Dogme 2007. One of the central tenants of Kino Dogme 2007 is that the work must be done for its own sake and not for money.

I nominate Pearl's thread since she's likely a massive grifter.
Well, she is massive.

The transition seemed to go very smoothly. Well done.

One minor thing though: I am disappointed this re-modeled subforum did not adopt the Balldo icon like @Null was contemplating earlier. Instead, we get some generic pokeball lookin Death Star thingamajig.

@AltisticRight did a mock up. It was in the correct green color and everything.

@Chibitzen also submitted some art to the Rekieta thread that might fit the bill. It might be the wrong shade of green though.

IMO, there's just something that feels "right" about Weeb Wars turning into Grift Wars and adopting the Balldo as its symbol.

Would like to suggest the Thorp Family Thread. Currently named "Ralph and Grace Thorp" though it has just spun off and became the defacto thread to discuss the Thorp's.

The only point that they kinda miss on is "Is primarily funded through their online content." Don't believe they pull in much money. Though Ben (the father) has been trying to turn his family into an online circus/whorehouse for monetization, since their entrance to the internet.

I appreciate having a separate board for Rekieta and Masterson and other people in a very niche sub culture, but how do you distinguish between what's sektur, what's grift wars and what's internet famous? There's definitely an overlap with those first two, and an overlap with the latter two.

Thinking that Keemstar belongs here, vs Internet Famous sub forum. He so clearly gets well over 50% of his information from here, likely way more than that. He never credits the forum, either. The grifty thief is hungry to try and capitalize off of this sites culture & M.O, as he obviously thinks no one will call him out. Has anyone else noticed Keemstar’s multiple attempts to create a show called some variation of, Lolcows? His current attempt is called just that, and he’s marketing it exactly the same as Null describes Kiwi Farms, -as a place (podcast in the latest case,) to gossip about the hilarious behavior of internet celebrities & wannabes. It’s fucking gross to try so hard to capitalize on something someone else struggled hard to keep afloat, and to be so shameless. Keemstar doesn’t even try to make the idea something new that he could rightfully claim is his work. Plenty of people laugh & make fun of others, they don’t try to steal from other sites so directly, though. He’s a grifting little bitch with no brilliant ideas of his own, a perfect fit in Grift Wars.

Is any of Ralph's shit getting moved here? We should rip the killstream thread, the ralph twitter thread and possibly the Ralph V Harry thread.

IDK, he's certainly greedy but I wouldn't call his retarded shit overtly political nor does he really do "culture war" stuff.

why is comicsgate not in grift wars? its about using monetizing anti-sjw hate into cash. it would surprise me to find out that half of the comicsgate community were sjw themselves. the grift knows no moral boundaries.

This is just my opinion, but I believe it's erroneous to move the Ben Shapiro/Daily Wire thread from general Lolcows into Grift Wars. He and his business are effectively mainstream and even get broadcasted on radio, much higher profile than a mere "online content creator" this forum is meant to entail. Ben Shapiro is on par with Rush Limbaugh, Steven Bannon, Alex Jones, Jon Stewart, and Stephen Colbert. If any of those people had dedicated KF threads, would they be assigned to Grift Wars or Lolcows?

Alex Jones actually (for some reason) has a very small thread.

Agree on the Western thing, I wouldn’t call Singal a grifter though. He reports on the content creators, rather than being one himself. It’s a bit of a fine line but if you’re going to call a purely subscription based investigative journalism show a grift, you’d certainly have to say that about MATI, which is dono based and deals in opinion and conjecture a lot more.
I think we can say both are meta enough to avoid the tag.
I don't think Jesse is a grifter (although some aspect of that is there, since he's making a mint). I don't know if you noticed, but Null put his own podcast Mad at the Internet in this forum (and props for that). I think it's good to stay conscious of the monetary motivation, even when it isn't the primary driver. I don't think this should be a forum just for "bad guys" (from our perspective), but simply for people who have a monetary interest in the culture war.
