It's one of the most underrated for sure.Minish Cap was the best one
The train gimmick isn't something I'd ever want to see again and it bogged down the game, but I don't think it was intrusive enough to not consider Spirit Tracks a good Zelda.I just couldn't get into Spirit Tracks. The train thing was dumb, especially after the total freedom of Hourglass's boat. I will say that the first area's train music is top shelf though. It's basically the Default Train Music in my mind.
On topic: I'm one of those weirdos who absolutely loves BotW, and I've been playing Zelda games since before most of you were born. Zelda has always experimented with wildly different styles as early as the second game. There are very few entries that I'd consider anything less than great.
Technically it's more of a multiplatform release but yeah, it was obviously developed as a port rather than under simultaneous development. So is BotW
I'll give you this: the four elemental archbeasts or whatever the fuck were crappy, uninspired "dungeons" and are easily the worst part of the game. I'd be perfectly happy just scrapping them entirely.BotW had a lot of potential and I actually had some hope for TotK because of that, but now I'm not sure the current formula ever reach that potential. I'm glad others like it, but without traditional dungeon design and kicking breakable weapons to the curb it will always seem unfinished and tedious.
Another small nitpick is that I kinda wish Link would go back his OG green outfit. The Champion's tunic just looks like a blue T shirt to me and the Archaic tunic makes him look like a self-insert for catamites. Apparently they thought the hat didn't look cool anymore but I don't get how a ponytail's supposed to look "cool".It's one of the most underrated for sure.

Full agreement. The only one I'd partially contest is Wind Waker due to the sailing taking so long drags down replayability, but there's nothing better to replace it with (and I'd lump Ages in with seasons as being two parts of one game).1. Links Awakening
2. A Link to the Past
3. Ocarina of Time
4. Wind Waker
5. Oracle of Seasons
The darkest story is probably Majora's Mask but I like the whole cutesy style of Link's Awakening. It emphasises the juxtaposition of the outward appearance of the game and the actual truth behind the island.I like the story of Link's Awakening, especially when within the game, many of the boss monsters were acutely aware that the island would vanish if the Wind Fish awoke, and would warn Link not to do it such as the Face Shrine boss and the boss of Eagle Tower.
Still, I would like to see Link's Awakening get something like the Twilight Princess treatment and treat it as a more mature game, as the story of the game is probably the darkest one in the entire franchise...particularly the atmosphere of some of the dungeons in Link's Awakening such as both the North and South Face Shrine in the Gameboy versions...
I slightly prefer the ending of the OG cuz Marin sprouts wings and flies away instead of becoming a seagull, which meant there was a small chance that she and Link ended up together. I know that shipping autism is a pipeline to lolcow-ery, but I really liked Marin and Link's relationship in the game and wish they could've ended up together. Can't place my finger on why her of all Zelda girls, but she seemed like the perfect girl for Link. Oh well, hopefully she could switch between seagull and human form so that my shipping fantasies would still come true.
