Anyone here who thinks that Link's Awakening is unironically the best Switch Zelda game?

Link's Awakening is good, but the game boy color version is better.

as a whole i think there are LOTS of better switch games. BOTW/TOTK, mario odyssey, not to mention the ports of older games that have come to switch like KOTOR, final fantasy 6, etc.

Minish Cap was the best one
It's one of the most underrated for sure.

I just couldn't get into Spirit Tracks. The train thing was dumb, especially after the total freedom of Hourglass's boat. I will say that the first area's train music is top shelf though. It's basically the Default Train Music in my mind.

On topic: I'm one of those weirdos who absolutely loves BotW, and I've been playing Zelda games since before most of you were born. Zelda has always experimented with wildly different styles as early as the second game. There are very few entries that I'd consider anything less than great.
The train gimmick isn't something I'd ever want to see again and it bogged down the game, but I don't think it was intrusive enough to not consider Spirit Tracks a good Zelda.

BotW had a lot of potential and I actually had some hope for TotK because of that, but now I'm not sure the current formula ever reach that potential. I'm glad others like it, but without traditional dungeon design and kicking breakable weapons to the curb it will always seem unfinished and tedious.

So is BotW
Technically it's more of a multiplatform release but yeah, it was obviously developed as a port rather than under simultaneous development.

I'll give you this: the four elemental archbeasts or whatever the fuck were crappy, uninspired "dungeons" and are easily the worst part of the game. I'd be perfectly happy just scrapping them entirely.

I like the little puzzle room dungeons though, for the most part. Even though the reward quickly becomes not worth the effort, I still do them because they're fun and unique.

Breakable weapons I don't really care about one way or another. I like them because they force you to adapt and use every resource available to you, but sometimes I just want to whip out the master sword and steamroll through everything.

Another small nitpick is that I kinda wish Link would go back his OG green outfit. The Champion's tunic just looks like a blue T shirt to me and the Archaic tunic makes him look like a self-insert for catamites. Apparently they thought the hat didn't look cool anymore but I don't get how a ponytail's supposed to look "cool".

My man doesn't even play the DX edition of Link's Awakening. I can respect a purist.

It's impressive that a Switch game runs worse than the 30 year old game it's remaking, I'll give it that.

I'd love it if OoS and OoA were given the same treatment, but I'd also just like some new isometric dungeon crawling Zelda games. It's been a really long time since they last came out with a proper one. A Link Between Worlds was a decade ago... which is something you shouldn't think about for too long if you don't want to feel old.

I like the story of Link's Awakening, especially when within the game, many of the boss monsters were acutely aware that the island would vanish if the Wind Fish awoke, and would warn Link not to do it such as the Face Shrine boss and the boss of Eagle Tower.

Still, I would like to see Link's Awakening get something like the Twilight Princess treatment and treat it as a more mature game, as the story of the game is probably the darkest one in the entire franchise...particularly the atmosphere of some of the dungeons in Link's Awakening such as both the North and South Face Shrine in the Gameboy versions...

1. Links Awakening
2. A Link to the Past
3. Ocarina of Time
4. Wind Waker
5. Oracle of Seasons
Full agreement. The only one I'd partially contest is Wind Waker due to the sailing taking so long drags down replayability, but there's nothing better to replace it with (and I'd lump Ages in with seasons as being two parts of one game).

Also, anyone who thinks LADX is superior has not played with the select trick enough. I probably put 300+ hours into that game on bus rides in gradeschool just fucking around in glitched out maps and figuring out how many heart containers/glitch items I could get, since any item with an incrementing level like the shield/sword/bracelet will start getting weird at some point after you have more of them than you're supposed to have. The game can also get permafucked in incredibly funny ways if you manage to clone one of the instruments (difficult since you need to navigate outside the map to the instrument room in order to do the trick in the way that clones items) since this writes garbage all over some of the event flags and can result in you having every single partner at once and infinite acorn/piece of power, among other things.

I have to respect Switch L:A though because although it doesn't have the select trick it has completely different fucked up wallclip bugs and the speedrunners make use of them in exactly the same sort of weird ways you can abuse the select trick in the original. Pure class.

The darkest story is probably Majora's Mask but I like the whole cutesy style of Link's Awakening. It emphasises the juxtaposition of the outward appearance of the game and the actual truth behind the island.

I slightly prefer the ending of the OG cuz Marin sprouts wings and flies away instead of becoming a seagull, which meant there was a small chance that she and Link ended up together. I know that shipping autism is a pipeline to lolcow-ery, but I really liked Marin and Link's relationship in the game and wish they could've ended up together. Can't place my finger on why her of all Zelda girls, but she seemed like the perfect girl for Link. Oh well, hopefully she could switch between seagull and human form so that my shipping fantasies would still come true.
