Two 8-month-old pit bulls that were loose in Nanaimo attacked several children, severely injuring at least one. Other people that came to aid the children were also injured.

The children were playing in a yard at the house of one of their friends. The dogs were from somewhere else in the neighborhood and had been cited for being at large previously.

One of the owners of the dogs came and got the dogs but did not stick around. The news interviewed the other owner, a Dangerhair that looked to be in her late 40s or early 50s. While she was devastated at what her dogs had done, she said to the reporter, "People are saying, look at this from the prospective of a parent, well, these dogs are my kids, too," and then she broke down crying.

It was later reported both dogs were euthanized, as there have been other incidents prior to this one, and due to the severity of the injuries the one particular child sustained.

To the dangerhair dog owner I would have to say, "If these dogs were your KIDS, you did a lousy job of raising them. Thank heavens you didn't spawn any of your own."

So long story short, we used to have these terrible neighbors next door. Manipulative obese fuckaroos, they called animal control on us having a cat that wandered around the neighborhood. (We mostly kept him inside after they started bitching). Let their shitty yard overgrow to the point that you couldn't even see the house. The husband abused the wife, at least emotionally, she might have had autism or something, but I think he pushed her off the deep end. About a year ago, they divorced and abandoned the house. My family took that opportunity to clear out all of the shrubbery, and all the weird shit out of their serial killer backyard.
Anyway, some new people moved in there recently. My nine-year-old brother was throwing something away, and heard rabid barking. Earlier today my sister saw them let out two large dogs outside of the house without leashes. At least one of them was a Pit bull. Keep in mind, the house is no longer bordered by shrubbery or a fence. I have four younger siblings, and three cats that live inside the enclosed porch at home. The kids like to play outside and our cats will sometimes escape and run towards the next-door yard. I've been incredibly stressed since I've heard about this. I know that if one of those dogs attacked one of my siblings or cats, my parents would definitely kill it themselves or fork out money to sue the neighbors, but I'd hate for it to get to that point. I'm seriously considering poisoning those fuckers when I get home.

Poison the fuckers and film it for the thread. I own three dogs so I'm not some torture weirdo. I just loathe all these chinky eyed fucks

I don't condone taking matters into your own hands unless the situation is very dire, but if there are clear signs of aggression and you can't get AC involved, xylitol. You can buy it as a sweetener.

Someone had mentioned it in the thread before, here's a link to a toxicology paper on it.

Although xylitol is considered safe in people, it has significant toxic effects in dogs. Xylitol has long been known to cause hypoglycemia in dogs; more recent case reports have implicated it as a cause of acute liver failure.3,4 Hypoglycemia has been reported in dogs ingesting >0.1 g/kg of xylitol, while dogs ingesting >0.5 g/kg are at risk for developing hepatotoxicosis.5 The severity of hepatotoxicity may be idiosyncratic rather than dose dependent because not all dogs that have ingested doses well above 0.5 g/kg have developed liver failure.

So half a gram per kg of dog, or a quarter gram per pound if you're American (my condolences).

My Exodus 21:28-29 post definitely applies here. History of aggression, fails to do anything about it. Pit bull owners are different from all other dog owners, and to deny that is pure cope.

My sister tells me that the dogs got pissed when she went outside to water. The owner was present and yelled at them to zip it, but like we've seen in this thread, pit owners are useless should their dog already attack somebody. We do have a couple of handguns, and the police in the area do have K-9 units, so my main worry is them initiating an attack on one of the kids in the first place.

Update: My parents will be installing a fence regardless of what the owners think. We used to have a short black picket fence back there which rabbits could pass through and our cats could leap over, so we're obviously switching to something much taller with no spaces. They got even more convinced because my dad saw both dogs galloping down the street like a hundred miles and hour when he was working from home this afternoon. I hope they don't end up hurting any people or animals in the neighborhood.

Anyboldy who lets their dogs run loose, I don't care if it's the friendliest King Charles Spaniel on the planet, is an asshole. Not only are they letting their dog go out and pick fights, they don't give a fuck if it's hit by a car.

I volunteered at a rescue, and we had rules stating that any dog adopted needed to either be on a leash or within a fence. Once had a family wanting to adopt who said they just trusted the dog to stay in the yard... asked them why they were looking to adopt... wellllll last two dogs were hit by cars and died. Unsurprisingly they didn't get a dog from us.

Shitbull hate is easy to identify with and if you have an insane untrained dangerous dog in your neighborhood then LARPing about how much you want to cause its death is just jerking yourself off.
Killing another person's pet is against the law. Dumping trash in the owner's yard until they move is against the law. If you're determined to break the law, do so and don't brag about it online.

Fortunately the owner got them back. We have called AC on objectively friendlier dog breeds wandering the neighborhood like labs and boxers in the past, so no way we're not letting pit bulls roam free.
