Cogent's CEO is directly involved in trying to censor the Kiwi Farms

Respectfully, I think Null’s work and my idea are different. Null is decentralizing the website itself, so that it can accessible by making it difficult to DDOS and block. My idea is more radical, in that the website doesn’t host any content whatsoever. It simply displays content a user has locally.
Well, get to it, then. See you in the Internet & Technology board trying to figure out how to make it work in a normal browser without extra software (That's one of Null's requirements for the site, by the way.)

Making it legally accessible on the normal, open web to normies using ordinary web browsers was really what this site was trying to achieve.

I agree, and we already know the impact going dark has on usage.

For anyone thinking about distributed hosting, that doesn't solve the problem. IPFS was mentioned earlier; it's probably the most well-established attempt, however it's not really meant for constant updating. Every time you update a file, it generates a new hash--think of it like a thread getting a new URL every time a post is added.

But even if you worked around that, you still need to get users pointed to that content or hashes/URL. Let's say you implemented an IPFS-to-HTTP bridge; you still need a main hosting place for that bridge, and you need it to be reachable to the whole HTTP side of the Internet. LFJ and Cogent won't care that the underlying resources are not technically hosted at that IP/domain, they will work to block it anyway.

It's not a replacement for KF, but it could be an interesting way to serve archived versions of threads. By making the bulk of the hosting decentralized, anybody could drop a containerized version of that bridge into the cheapest VPS, and serve up static KF on a thousand different places. If I correctly understand what Null does, this is kind of how the site currently operates , except it's lightweight proxies pointing to the site's home hardware (and it isn't static).

The solution is simple

1. Claim KF users are trannies, Jews and blacks.
2. Accuse anyone trying to censor this site of being anti-Semitic, transphobic Nazi.
3. Repeat the lie until it becomes true.
4. Censorship immunity

It isn't even a huge lie because everyone here is fag anyway. Simply point me to any post and I will call it gay.

Whoever wanted these deleted, scrubbed em from the internet.

If ya try view any of the links mentioned on an archive site, you'll be met with constant captchas or 'excluded' messages.

Censorship/lack of privacy is more prevalent than it's ever been *despite* it being an issue on more people's minds than ever. What's the next 1-2 years going to be like? Let alone 10.

I get you're thinking but would just make the internet *less* anonymous, in that a website users activity can be directly linked to them?

Actually, that might be a thing for Null, make it so you can click on the addresses at the bottom and get a known good QR code. Obviously I could paste one here and tell everyone it was for KF, and have it go to my wallet.
The general rule is really simple. Do you have the private key? If not, you don't own the crypto.

You sound like a fag. Are you a tranny? Like me?

We are all mammoth homosexuals here and I am sick of being persecuted by bigots for my sexuality.

Killer robot reporting for duty!
It's also possible that your ISP uses multiple ISPs, one of which is Cogent, and as long as Cogent is set as the highest priority for outgoing traffic, you won't be able to reach the farms. A lot of people don't realise that the Internet isn't necessarily built around what leads to the lowest latency or best performance in a technical sense, but BGP actually lets you define business goals.

Routing priority for outgoing traffic is defined by (from most to least importance):
- local preference -> as path length -> MED (number of hops)

So lets say your ISP has Cogent+Lumen as upstreams, but has a bigger or cheaper port on Cogent and prefers to send outgoing traffic over that link, they set the priority higher and you can't reach the farms. The good news is many ISPs are multi-homed in this way, and it is therefore possible for them to update their routing rules to prefer another path to reach the farms IP despite Cogent blocking. If you manage to contact the right person, and explain the problem well enough, that is. If you aren't a complete retard and know how to write an email, it's worth a shot. You could potentially get the farms unblocked for all the people using your ISP.
So what you're saying is we could potentially render Cogent irrelevant just by sending sternly written letters?
What's interesting (to me) is ever since this shit started, the site's seemed generally MORE responsive? I still get the occasional "page cannot be displayed" which I assume is DDOS, but for a good long while "business as usual" was click on a thread, go look at something else because it's gonna be at least a few, 5, 10 seconds, and hope you remember what you were even doing? That seems largely gone. I've also checked all connections I'm responsible for, esp. Comcast, and it's remained accessible.
Site responses are snappier on my end as well. It almost seems like Cogent cutting off traffic to KF may have stepped on the DDOS attempts, so basically clearnet Kiwis are extra privileged.

Null you faggot. Why don't you just set the site to be viewable by members only for a few weeks and close registration. Then set the login page to something like:

"Kiwifarms is being harrassed by "List of company names" and forced to be closed to the public due to complaints about pornography that has been shared on our platform by the persons in the pictures voluntarly. However they still offer services to sites hosting child pornography, rape videos, revenge porn, murder openly to the public. If you wish to access this site and many thousands of others like it in the future freely please contact your congresssman and ISP please see linked websites for contact information. https://www.house.gov/representatives/find-your-representative

- Love your big gay leader Null"

You know that letters to congress-people are a matter of public record? The only caveat being that legislators can choose whether or not to disclose them. There's a reason why so few organizations are willing to stand up for Kiwifarms, the pressure on individuals could possibly be even larger.

I like the idea because of the optics, if re-written a bit. But I don't know how big of an impact it would have sadly. Especially if it only concerned people who were just lurkers to begin with.

> There is an ongoing outage affecting our leased capacity between Europe and Asia, causing part of our backbone capacity to be impacted. The ongoing activity is an urgent SMW5 cable repair between Matara & Yanbu on Submarine segment S1B. The leased capacity will remain down during the repair operation. ETR 10/30/2023.

Just as a tranny cuts their dick off, it seems Cogent has cut some of their submarine cables.

why exactly would we need to remove things from the site if service providers like cogent can just prevent things from connecting to said bad things?

like its one thing if an image or video is directly hosted on this site but if it is an archive link or embed of another site why not go after those places instead and cut out the middle man.

i just do not see the logic in blocking connections to this site when the original host site of the bad things still exists. its like how people like to call KF a doxxing site yet those websites that just outright tell anyone who knows your name every single place you have ever lived are more or less allowed to just exist.

are these people just trying to desperately grasp at straws praying they get the reaction they want out of us? or do they actually believe the way to erase something from the internet is to ignore the actual host of the thing and go after everyone else instead?

this is why i actually agree with the decision to censor the requested items from the site for the time being. its worth seeing what happens if you do listen to their requests.

i have a theory that the troons who are doing this stuff want us to react a certain way very badly and the fact that we never do drives them mad and pushes them to try more and more things.

i do not think they expected us to follow through with cogents request at all i think they expected complaints and a refusal to follow through which they could then use as ammo against null and the site in general. but following through with the request calls their bluff and forces them to find a new way to twist things in their favor.
It's because Kiwi Farms is a nexus point of otherwise disparate information, what's being censored here isn't the individual pieces of content themselves, it's the broader context of bringing these things together which form a bigger picture.

>labeling some random ass thread that's not even remotely sexual as CP
>conveniently disregards a thread with 60+ pages' worth of a pedophile being told to neck himself in various colorful ways for trying to use the forums as an attack dog to commit TTD against a 14 year old

Funny how the big bad bully forum is pretty keen on exposing creeps and thereby protecting would-be victims of said creeps, yet entire companies seethe and mald against a little neighborhood patrol. Curious :tomgirl:

Anyway best of luck Nool, you've made it this far and fought tooth and nail for our ability to laugh at retards on the internet. Keep fighting the good fight, here's to hoping there'll still at least be one corner of the internet that isn't completely riddled with AIDS.
Schizo theory: The feds push the narrative that there's CP on what is essentially a privately run sex offender registry for the same reason they pushed crack on gangs that started out as neighborhood watch groups. They don't want to compete with private outfits that are more effective than they are, or something, idk what the motives are.

So has these people ever contact the police yet to report these so called criminal acts? Or they just going to continue to make up lies and hope the general public will believe them? They're basically using the same bullshit Visa used to try and remove porn sites from the internet without getting the law involved. Just "listen and believe".

Also, while it's a good idea for people to not deal with Cogent after all of this bullshit and make a switch, even if you do they'll charge you and then auto renew your shit to steal thousands of dollars more from you.

It would be nice if more people talk about this shit, but too many people expect one person to fight for them and think that's more than enough. Things will just continue to get worse until the internet is just a handful of sites. Just how the government wants it to be.
