Pokémon (Not-So) Griefing Thread - Scarlet and Violet Released with 10 Million Copies in First 3 Days in Buggy States

You're being too optimistic so allow me to doom.
Sword and Shield are the second best-selling games right behind the original Red and Blue, and Scarlet and Violet aren't far behind. If anything, the controversy over Dexit caused a Streissand effect and ballooned their popularity.

You can absolutely rely on idiot consoomers, just look at the sales numbers of the yearly EA sports games, the gacha shit and the microtransaction-infested AAA games. Actual fans are a minority, most people who buy Pokemon play it for an afternoon and then do something else, or they're kids who don't care about the quality of the games and a decade from now will be calling them hidden gems and classics. If you want to play good Pokemon games, stick to fangames or return to the old stuff, I still play HeartGold.
That's true, but you're missing the point: People who play yearly EA Sports titles or 2K ones are already sports fans, so they will buy these titles regardless because there is little competition and this is what interests them. People play COD every year because it is familiar to them and because other shooters like Halo and Battlefield shit the bed. Pokemon similarly has little competition, however you have to look at who actually buys these games. Little kids? They aren't really interested in Pokemon, they would rather watch streamers play the games, play fortnite or play some shitty gatcha on their phones.
Who is left then, the dwindling amount of old fans? Trannies, who historically do not actually purchase products they support? Coomers who openly admit they don't actually play the games but only jack off to porn? Even Japanese fans are being turned off, and they're the true bloodline of the franchise, always have been.
Without a new fanbase to put down their roots and become life-long consoomers, you mostly depend on the aging fanbase who is already somewhat aware of the franchise to some extent. Your average consoomer isn't going to buy the DLCs, plushies, trading cards ect which all makes more money than the actual games, and that will impact the bottom line. The high number of game sales is a bit of a misnomer: it is a short term profit that will inevitably end up with much smaller profit margin than if they bothered to make a decent product that was universally praised even by outsiders. That's how you build a cult following, not just sell shit because you know it will sell on the brand name alone.
This is a bubble and it will burst. You are absolutely correct that there really is no point in playing any of the newer titles.
Voice acting literally adds nothing, modern voice acting is garbage enough to detract from what is on screen. Adding voice acting would hamper/reduce what content they can put into the already barebones games.
How daft do you have to be to listen to a character clearly giving a speech, moving their mouth but not actually saying anything? How would actual voice acting, which other games that precede even the original 1996 RBG games had, take away from the experience? Next you will tell me that having more pokemon would detract from the experience too because Gamefreak would not have time to polish up these wonderful animations that are in the newer games.
Pokemon is the biggest entertainment franchise in the world, they can do whatever they want and they have the funds for it as well. You might as well start arguing that Disney and Star Wars are small indie productions done straight from someone's garage and you should not expect much of them.
Man, Gamefreak fans are something else.

Way to completely gloss over my pint beyond disagreeing with you. GF has always been poor at gamedesign, programming, and time management. Voice acting in video games has always been not great at best, but there is a place for it. That place has never been RPG’s. The result is always the same: getting two seconds of dialogue before skipping to the next text box. Pokémon has largely had barebones story, and that would further be reduced with the addition of gay cringey anime voice actors due to GF’s aforementioned poor time management.

You're excusing modern games being sub-standard even for a game from 1996 because "gamefreak doesn't know better"
No shit it doesn't know better, doesn't stop them from trying to implement voice acting, even if it was horrible. Just because they're retarded and stuck with making the same game over and over doesn't mean they don't get to get on with the times and try to make a proper video game more suited for the 2020s like every other Nintendo franchise. Imagine if Mario was still stuck in 2D and 8bit because "that's just how these games are", ditto for Metroid, or how about a Legend of Zelda title that isn't open world and still uses the exact same formula from the original Famicon title?. It's people like you giving them a free pass that are the reason for the absolute horrid state of the current games. Almost every single game on the Switch proves that there is nothing stopping them from making the best game they can, they're not making mobile games with limited hardware anymore. They're on the same console that has BOTW and Witcher 3, there is zero excuse.

No wonder you’re so adamant this game for five-year-olds adds voice acting, because you’re demonstrably illiterate. Voice acting, in and of itself, adds nothing to video games as a medium. In RPG’s specifically, across the entire genre, it reduces the quality and quantity of writing. Add in the fact that modern day voice acting consists of a tiny, incestuous group and you eliminate the identity of your characters because they have the same voice and cadence of every other character acted in the last fifteen years.
BotW is a worse experience for including voice acting.

Disclaimer: Devil's advocate here
The way I see it, historically, voice acting has always been a huge penalty for video game writing, as any writing change would result in re-recordings and also make things much less flexible for everyone
However, with ML models, voice acting can be "made" super easily, fast, and at a minimal cost
Dedicated voice actors, especially in the current unionized world, might get outcompeted by ML tools

You're making excuses why the biggest entertainment franchise in the world, and a first party Nintendo franchise cannot have standard features when pitted against games like Witcher 3, which are on the same system, and hundreds if not thousands of other titles. You don't even have an excuse that keeping quality of first party games low is Nintendo's MO now when all the other ones are doing fine.
In other words, it's cope. Nigger cattle like you is the reason why gaming is in the sorry state it is, always advocating for lowering the standards because "who cares" or "it isn't worth it". BotW blows both Switch mainline Pokemon Titles out of the water while being a much older game, so that right there is another cope.
Go pre order the next SV DLC, you retard. Your mush brained ramblings matter about as much as that of any other GF defender.

Pokemon not only has much less spoken dialogue than most RPGs, it is also much more simplistic AND they have access to a variety of voice actors for all languages due to the Anime that always airs among these games. There is zero excuse why these games cannot have voice acting now that they are on a big-boy console, any arguments as such are made in bad faith by GF cum guzzlers who have to defend their billion dollar indie studio at all costs.
Adding voice acting would not lower the quality of the game's dialogue(or any other part of the games, as VA is often done by another part of the studio entirely), nor did removing it not add the quality of dialogue in the game(or improve any other part of the game, much like removing pokemon did not add model or animation quality). GF plays no part in booking actors, recording sessions ect. and just has to focus on the game like they normally would. This isn't rocket science, this has been the standard for decades now, as surprising as this might be to some Pokemon fans.

I’m making zero excuses. I’m telling you that the entire inclusion of voice acting in and of itself is a negative element, regardless of what games include it. Witcher 3 would be better without it.
Nigger cattle like you is the reason why gaming is in the sorry state it is,
The last Pokémon game I bought was Ultra Sun, and it’s not even been opened. You’re the one buying the new games.

Anime voice acting is precisely the reason why voice acting drags down games.
You’re a fucking mongoloid who can’t comprehend that voice acting in video games are for faggots, for nigger cattle like yourself who would rather drag down the quality of a game by shoehorning in element under the guise of “modern standards”. The voice acting will be bad, because it is bad in literally every video game it appears, especially Japanese ones; and there is no amount of time or money that Game Freak could devote to achieve otherwise.

So you've proven my point that you don't know what you're talking, and that what you said shouldn't be taken seriously then. Okay, thanks.
There is no reason why Gamefreak cannot bring their games to the modern standard, other than the cope that their defenders desperately try to spout. None of their excuses ever have any ground, unless we pretend that the games exist within a bubble where the industry hasn't moved on for over 20 years. Mario games are also targeting the same young audience, and look at their quality over the years. Any excuse relating to the game's quality/budget/features ect. falls apart even when you compare them to the exact same first party titles Pokemon shares the spotlight with, let alone standard AAA fare or even indie titles.

Holy shit you’re retarded.

There is no amount of time or money from any company that could produce a game where voice acting does not hinder the quality of the game, especially with the zeitgeist of today’s voice actors.

Yes, because all the "bing-bing wahoos!" in Mario are such a strenuous load for Nintendo that they had to lower quality of models and textures, lower the LOD, cut out various features and half the enemy roster in the games. Fuck off, Pokemon's dialogue isn't Shakespeare and there is a lot less of it than in any real RPG. You're either a genuine dunce or arguing in bad faith, sadly there is very little distinction for that in the modern Pokemon fanbase.
What was the argument you used? "This is a game for 5 year olds"? Well, if that is the case, then the Anime voice actors you seem to hate so much will do, because the 5 year olds don't fucking care, as long as the voice acting is of the same quality as that of a saturday morning cartoon, that will be fine. The voice talent is there, all Nintendo has to do is book a few sessions, and there you go, a brand new feature in a Pokemon game.
Clearly, your level of "quality" that you speak of in gaming is non-existent, so once again you bring nothing to the conversation and your arguments mean nothing.

Nigger you need to stop writing all these big posts and take 5 minutes to read one. This is the most retarded fucking argument I've seen in this thread.

HOMIE JUST DOESN'T LIKE VOICE ACTING

The voice talent is there
No it’s not. My entire point is that it does not exist.

Including it in an existing game with no other changes would make the game worse. The bing bing wahoos are sound design rather than voice acting.

The game being for five year olds was a shot at you and your poor reading comprehension.

At best, competent voice acting is window dressing. Competent voice acting is not something that exists today, after having been overtaken by anime voice acting. The inclusion of voice acting makes a game worse by its very inclusion.

HOMIE JUST DOESN'T LIKE VOICE ACTING
Okay, pulling back the curtain of spergery for a moment: voice acting has its place, and there are many games that have good voice acting. I’ve really reduced and exaggerated my argument sperging because this sped isn’t getting it. However, games like Pokémon or Mario or Zelda are done a disservice with voice acting, as evidenced by the Switch Zelda games.

Game Freak really needs to focus more on what’s important to a video game: making a fun video game, and voice acting is a very low priority towards that.

Respectfully disagree because I have played at least 3 games with voice acting that I considered to be very good, two of which have been released after 2020 if I recall correctly
That said, all these games were extremely story- and dialogue-heavy and not RPGs

If you don't mind me asking, why did you buy the game but didn't open it? Also, should probably sell it while the physical game nostalgia bubble still exists.
At the time I just never got around to it. Life started getting busier, and I was buying them out of habit. By the time I had the time to play it, the desire to do so (combined with Sun being rather lackluster) meant I had moved on to something else.

I know someone in this thread was talking about doing a Crystal ROM Hack off of the disassembly available online. I started messing around with that shortly after Dexit became a thing, and it’s enough to scratch my Pokémon itch for now.

Also, I’m waiting for the physical media bubble to pop so I can get back o buying physical copies of old games. I have zero interest in reselling.

I've used your own argument to prove you wrong: You say "competent voice acting is a window dressing", and then you claim the game is for 5 year olds. Why shouldn't a game from the largest media franchise in the world have a little window dressing, is that a bad thing?
Children don't care about "quality" in either case, and any serious RPG of this kind has voice acting to some degree in it, so it is bizzare that Pokemon doesn't have SOME kind of voice acting, even if it isn't any better than your typical jrpg/anime fare. There is no excuse a game in 2023 of this caliber shouldn't have any voice acting on a home console with this amount of dialogue, and your argument comes down to "nuh-uh, I like it this way! it's impossible to find good voice acting in a game like this because they are all doody heads!", which is ironic since you started insulting me for taking apart your laughable argument. I'm not going to bother going thru all the games released from 1996 to today that have competent voice acting to prove my point, I will once again direct you to Witcher 3, another open RPG filled to the brim with quality voice acting that is also on the Switch. Now compare how much a small polish IP like this makes compared to the behemoth that is Pokemon as a franchise, if CDPR can afford good VA then there is no excuse for Nintendo/Gamefreak, especially since Nintendo ALREADY HAS VOICE ACTORS THAT WORK ON POKEMON CHARACTERS.
You're a moron and your argument is non-existent. Just take your L and stop derailing the thread. This is the kind of shit people use as bait on /vp/ and yet you're trying to argue for it unironically. Once again, you sound like another one of those sheltered retards that never played a single video game outside of Pokemon, so you're finding it baffling that people are demanding some sort of quality control for what it de-facto number one media franchise in the world. Star Wars is second, do you know how many good quality games that franchise had, even before Pokemon came out? Do I even need to start going over all the ones with voice acting in them? Never mind, let's take two: The KOTOR games are both RPGs, how baffling would it be if neither game had no voice acting and only text boxes? You think people wouldn't complain about that?
These double standards don't apply to Gamefreak, as much as their ball lickers would like that to be the case. They need to start making competent games if they want people to stop complaining bout them, simple as. Glad even you admitted they're not capable of that, but that doesn't mean I will start lowering my standards to match theirs(and yours)
