Lords of the Fallen - the reboot of a sequel to a souls clone that nobody remembers fondly

This is the most hateful game I've seen in a good long while, constantly spamming shitty trash mobs from every direction, unintuitive level design full of asshole traps, poorly telegraphed instakill attacks, projectile throwing cunts on every rooftop and ledge, forcing you to go into the spooky realm only to punish you with even more infinitely spawning trash mobs. Fucking devs could just make the third game in this accursed series into a .exe that just straight up installs 40gb of malware on your computer and it would be preferable to this.

Also making the interact button the same as the jump button is a colossaly retarded move and what the fuck is up with the stupid janky lamp yanking bullshit the game makes you do constantly, did someone think this was fun? Parrying feels like loose diarrhea and the enemies are completely braindead, getting stuck on level geometry constantly. The level geometry is also full of irritating clutter and bullshit mini ledges your character constantly gets stuck on in the heat of battle.

What a fucking joke of a game, did the devs previously work exclusively on mobile gacha bullshit? I ask because this game gives the distinct air of being made by incompetent morons.

To add to this while they work on making NG+ not shit the recent patch enabled you to just reset NG0, keeping all your gear and levels like going into NG+ but being the base game and still having all the vestiges.

In addition to the Pieta swords getting an effect, and the Lightreaper weapons getting an effect, a "quest" for the stick was also found
You need to wear Thehk-Ihir's armor (the traveling merchant) by completing his "quest", upgrade the stick to +10, and then pet the dog in Skyrest, which increases your chance to get a status proc, up to once every 3 or so hits, cycling between different effects.
The damage at max scaling is barely over 500 when the effect is active so it's not worth it.

They've said every boss weapon has something to unlock, no one's found anything else yet, and this stick "quest" was only found because the devs gave a big hint during a Q&A

The recent patch also detects steam_appid.txt to bypass EAC and play offline if you want to spawn in items, there's a work around with a batch file you can play in the same directory, just make a text file, put in the following text and then change it to a .bat file:
set SteamAppId=1501750
set SteamGameId=1501750
start LOTF2-Win64-Shipping.exe
Placing it in ~\Lords of the Fallen\LOTF2\Binaries\Win64

I don't know if I can attach the cheatengine table with the spawn item script, as it's behind a patreon paywall, but an anon on the /vg/ general shared it a while ago and it still works even several patches later.

It's because the game uses unreal engine 5, a new and barely optimized shit engine compared to the red engine
By the way cdprojekt is dropping the red engine and using unreal 5 from now on
I remember reading that they were actually pretty far on Unreal 4, but some retard said they should switch over to Unreal 5. So, all the pretty stuff in the early trailers and some content they had to make the game more cohesive got cut because they couldn't replicate them in Unreal 5. That's why the game looks like ass and plays like ass.

The issue of vestiges in NG+ is being tweaked.

I'm considering respeccing from a radiance bonker to a dual wielding status effect build with the pendant of burden. I was messing around with a few double status weapons and I didn't realize how good they were.
Its kind of amazing how many status effects you can stack. I farmed up duel Left Hand Bringer of Stillness to get Frostbite damage, throw on Enchant Poison Weapon with minimal investment, add in the Bloodbane ring and I'm quickly adding three status effects to everything. Its works great against bigger mobs cause I'm doing posture damage and poison scales against mob health.

So far I'm enjoying Lords of the Fallen more then attempt I made at playing Dark Souls. I think its the "second chance" mechanic of jumping into the umbra realm every time I fuck up.

Yeah, bloodbane is a super solid choice. I have both the bringer of stillness weps so the frostbite one is an option. Bloodlust is probably going to be one of the weapons I'm gonna use because of the burn + bleed and the life leech on kill is a nice bonus but the weapon has a low AR. Left hand bringer of stillness plus bloodlust with poison weapon will proc four different statuses but all of the buildup values are kind of low. Maybe bloodlust and kukajin's sword for the double bleed to proc it quickly to take advantage of pendant of burden. I'm not sure how good the raw damage boost from poison weapon is but I don't think it's as good as radiant or infernal weapon or maybe it's physical damage or something, I don't know. Is there a frostbite weapon buff or are you restricted to salts?

First of their new "weekly patch" schedule just dropped.
It has some genuinely dumb changes.

Crossbow is really overpowered in PVE? Can nuke people in PVP? Raise the cost of bolts from 4 to 10! No don't change the damage.

Boss weapons at +5? Well now they go to +10!
Your weapon was at +5? Well it's still +5.
You used a chunk, which are limited per NG play through, to make it +5? No you don't get a chunk, go do co-op with our shitty connections and buy another from the shrine, we reduced the price very slightly!

Good job started to completely eliminate any good will you had, even redditors are turning.

I was poking around the steam forum looking to see if any enemy dropped the co-op/pvp reward items (souls games did this shit; why can these fags never ape the good parts) and found out that using a vpn to connect to Australia nets you 50x the normal reward, but good luck actually getting a connection. I really wanted the armor you get from co-op but I'll probably just use cheat engine to add the dumb currency.

You can't add the currency, you have to be connected to their servers to earn or spend it, and you need EAC on to connect, which has to be off to use the table.
Just use the cheatengine table to spawn in the rewards, the only downside to that is that you don't unlock the tincts/armors for all your other characters too.

It's amazing how much "staying in the bleeding edge" can ruin everything. I imagine that the game would have done a LOT better if it stuck to it's guns.
I almost forgot this game existed, at least it's better than "Lies of Pee"
From what I'm hearing, P seems to be the favorite of the 2 knockoffs. Also, haven't played Lords of the Fallen (and lost all interest with word of mouth) and only played the demo of P and found it "alright, but feels weird and not in the good way" so I have no particular bone in this fight.

Well their most recent patch is their most controversial. They basically nerfed a fuck ton of shit for PvP purposes in a game that's mostly PvE, plus they wasted time on a small Halloween event - that was originally a limited time quest, but they decided to make permanent which was a good call - instead of fixing corrupt saves that happen every patch. A good batch of players lose all progress because a patch breaks their save or something, it's hard to tell. The forums were on fire several hours ago.

Something about chunks being the biggest problem, a bunch of people maxed out their boss weapons - worked hours to get them there and such - then turns out they double the levels to max it with this patch, so the weapons are currently operating at half of what they were So all those resources wasted because they can't get more of them in their current playthrough and some people are up against a boss now that they can't beat with weapons the developers nerfed. They also nerfed a bunch of spells, too, increasing costs and such. I really have no idea what the fuck they're doing, to be honest.

Lies of P is actually tweaking shit and balancing accordingly, they found some bosses were too tough and fixed that. These guys are just... I would call them spastic in how they're presently handling things. I mean, how the fuck do you lose to a mobile game developer as a publisher? Neowiz's claim to fame is Brown Dust II and Brave Nine, yet they're handling Lies of P like fucking pros so far.

LOL, sounds like their retardation wasn't only related to swapping engine, they have a very disruptive retard calling shots.

Some youtuber called "FightinCowboy", who the devs have already done a live Q&A with and are doing another this Sunday, has directly shared many of the public grievances with the devs.

Which reminded me of something once I read it...
A radiance spell which summons two little Pieta clones, previously cost 95 mana and had pretty good tracking/annoyance in PVP, so they decide to nerf it to cost 425 mana, which means if you have the base radiance needed to cast it, you can't cast it, because it costs more mana than you have, and it's ridiculous cost has made it entirely useless.
They did the same thing to an inferno spell that summons three dogs to breathe fire for a bit, they have poor tracking and sometimes the third dog doesn't get summoned.

The biggest issue with PVP is still that it's a host based connection, and there is still a bug that causes the host to not be able to do more than double digit damage to invaders (host hit them for 20, they hit host for 500), but fret not the host can no longer quit to main menu while you invade! Instead they will just alt+f4 and remember to turn off the online.

Also they changed the secondary effect of the Pale Butcher umbral eye, now it causes you to do 25% more damage to the enemy's spirit when you use the lamp on them, let's see how that's working.
Oops... That's a +2 weapon in a late game area as well.

They also named the patch in the DB as "zeroqa" which makes sense when you have zero quality assurance.

The only times I've managed to get wins as a host was by breaking their poise and getting a lucky visceral attack in or by dying in axiom and letting the shockwave + gravity do the invader in.

It was one of the few radiance sorceries that was actually useful as a damage source in pve. The normal whatever bolt casts are super slow compared to the fireballs and don't chain together well. It's just gonna make people lean into latimer's javelin more... which will probably be on the chopping block next patch. Radiance builds have been getting done dirty since day 1.

Hexworks is a CI Games first party studio assembled specifically for this game. CI Games are a bunch of crayon eaters who seem to revel in pushing out shovelware. The only thing I'm surprised about here is how involved they seemingly are. I was cautiously optimistic about the game before it came out because they were very keen on showcasing it and were accepting feedback for months before release. Now I'm pretty burnt out. Gonna get all my endings and probably wash my hands of this until new content.

Finally beat this miserable slog of a game and promptly uninstalled it. Final castle was, like every level before it, a confusing mess with recycled enemies and a whole whopping single new one that somehow managed to be most irritating one thus far. Last boss was yet another trash mob while some giant cunt ran at the mouth during the entire "fight". What a joke of a game.
