The mistake is to think they "actually think." It's shocking how so many people are so incurious they know so little about everything. That they can just believe anything if the right person says it. Even hold a bunch of believes and concepts that contradict each other. Which they don't notice because they don't think.

I was chatting to someone about this war, trying to explain how un-retractably fucked the situation. They couldn't quite understand that there literally is no option besides a one-state solution, but that will never happen.
