I know actual Romanians, fuck off @AgendaPoster.
No you don't
who is most based, codreanu or antonescu?
Codreanu
Where's my wallet? It was right there just a second ago.
It's 2023. We only steal crypto.
What up with you guys hating Hungarians so much?
We usually don't, it's overblown crap.
We just don't like when they get uppity about autonomy inside Transylvania or when they cry about Trianon, instead of having friendly relationship within Europe.

@AgendaPoster explain to me why theft is an honored tradition among your countrymen.

Do Romanians kill niggers?
Of course not, we are good friends to the dindus and the 3rd world, and we were engaged in student and cultural exchanges for decades with Africa.
What kind of savages do you think we are?
We only do pogroms, like every other highly functional East European society.
Is it a Romanian internet poster thing, or do you IRL strut about talking about how you guys speak the closest thing to Roman Latin?
We do? Isn't that Italian?
The language is quite messy, but fun. It's somewhat hard to learn, especially compared to English, so I am a big English respecter for its efficiency and technological terminology that gets imported by other languages.
There are a lot of words from Slavic languages too, also from Turkish. Interestingly, we imported a bit less from German and Hungarian, even though there was a lot of their dominance in Transylvania.

Oh good God no, modern Italian is a language perverted by Germans and the French for 1000 years and sounds like it too.
Must've just been the Romanian nationalist I ran into online, he was very vocal about how Romanian was the true successor to Roman Latin and got very upset whenever I uttered the term "Dacian".

There are two strains of major historical sperginess inside Romanian "nationalism", both are very very low IQ, one is a Dacia enjoyer and the other is Rome enjoyer, but the ThracoDacians are more prevalent, more mystical and dumber.
The reality is that this is the muttlands of Europe and it can be easily be proven genetically. It's also region-dependent. The south and east have more Greek/Turkish DNA, the north Slavic, and the west German and Hungarian, with one smaller area with significant Serb and Croat mix, overlayed on generic Romanian stuff.
The country was always in the path of mass migration waves and invasions and that has left its imprint.
Anyway, since you brought this up, here's an article, and it's actually from today, hopefully it makes somebody laugh

I remember Sarmizegetusa being a real bitch of a mission in Caesar III. Not as ridiculous as Lugdunum mind you.

It is in fact the closest to Latin grammatically but its vocabulary has drifted a lot more than other Romance languages due to its isolation. Slavic languages replaced the Eastern Romance languages in the Balkans everywhere around them north of the Jirecek Line.

Italian has the closest vocabulary to Latin and Sardinian is probably the closest overall to Latin of the Romance languages.
