Overwatch

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
On the anniversary event going on, Lucioball is active in the Arcade section currently. I'm having some fun with it. I had one match where I score every goal for my team within a minute to a quick victory. When you're not hunting for achievements or playing competitive, it's a nice chance of pace.

The new event is pretty boring, not much to say about it. I actually don't mind the Sombra rework.

I'm glad it's not a game of hide and seek with Sombra using her teleport to camp by health packs, go stealth, hack/shoot, repeat. Let's see how it goes in practice.

Blizzard has also addressed their reporting system in conjunction with their revamped "leavers" policy.

Starting in Season 7, we’re introducing a queue suspension for most game matchmaking queues. If you leave four of your last 20 games played, you will be placed on a 10-minute suspension from queuing for any game mode that grants progression progress. If you continue to leave games, your suspension could increase to 30 minutes between queues. We feel this is a balanced approach because it doesn’t directly affect those who are pulled away from the game—allowing them time before queueing again—while also making it tougher for those who deliberately leave to ruin the experience for others.

This addresses Quick Play and Competitive, not Arcade or Custom Games.

It also addresses text/voice communications.

Because the need for text and voice chat is not as critical for most players outside of high-competitive ranks, we will be changing the defaults for both text and voice chat. Text chat will now be set to off by default (previously set to on) for new players in both Team and Match channels. Voice chat will now be set to on (previously set to auto-join) for new players. Those who prefer to communicate through these channels will need to decide to turn them on.

No need to communicate in our team based shooter! Genius!

And finally: report feedback.

The effectiveness of a report is based on each match in which the disruptive player is reported. This means the report's impact is the same whether just one or up to nine other players make a report. Players are not likely to be actioned if a group of friends collectively report them unless the reported player is being disruptive across multiple matches and getting reported by different players.

I reported a teammate for flaming/throwing the match because he wouldn't get enough heals. Next day, Blizzard provided me feedback that action was taken. Okay, not bad.

no, it's retarded. the only thing it leads to is people reporting more and more shit, then wait with bated breath to get confirmation, and when that doesn't happen start shitting up the support queue or the forums even more.
ironically the official stance way back was never to talk about accounts with anyone except the account holder. "thanks for the report, we gonna look into it", that's it. blizzard getting more and more retarded obviously didn't stop at the CS department...

It's been that way for a while.

"Action taken" can mean that someone read the report and just closed the ticket. They do not disclose what happened if anything - it's just there to make players that file reports feel better.

I'm losing my shit here. Recently started playing comp after having ~160hours of quickplay ever since OW2 released. In the beginning it was going well. Won 5 games, got placed in Gold 5. Won 10 in a row and made it to Gold 2. Won 4, lost 3, won one more and got placed Gold 1 in the last day of the season. Thought people will stop being retarded now that it's nearly Platinum so I queued for a comp game today
>game starts
>both dps stay in direct LOS of enemy spawn away from cover
>widow.jpg
>both die 1.5sec after doors open
>long spawn so first point is lost
This tilted me so fucking much it's unreal. Apparently people autopilot a lot. I'm not playing this faggot game for a week

This is what the rework looks like in competitive play:

Both Support and Tank classes have gotten absolutely destroyed by good Sombras. But just like that games are ruined by the vast majority of inexperienced players picking her.

Who knows if actual action was taken. Placebo effect and all that jazz.

It's disgusting. The only thing you rely on is strafing and hoping she misses her shots point-blank OR that your DPS notices and reacts within the 1second window before she wipes you

But God forbid tanks are tanky or supports heal while dealing 75dmg every second after a weapon charge - that's just nOt HeAlThY fOr ThE gAmE

MM is absolute dog shit.

Wanna know how I know for a fact? Ive played games where my team gets absolutely rolled, wasnt even remotely a close game. Queue up after loss only to be placed with 2 or 3 of the same players from the last game and against 2 or 3 of the same enemies from the last game. This isnt some one in a million game occurance, its pretty damn common to consistently see the same players in games if you queue up right away after a match ends.

That is world class retardation design right there.

They must have some really retarded algorithm that governs this. Ive reported some 100% full game throwers only to never see any message that action was taken against them. Even giving timestamps in the report description didnt do anything, and im talking about people that just suicide over and over come out of spawn or meis walling off spawn over and over.

Oh you thought the Mercy melting was bad, my new personal hobby is griefing Widowmaker. I love basically recreating this meme after a widow ziplines to a new spot.

My Latin goddess fucking melts the French bitch and now I can get revenge for the snipes from 700 hours of only playing Mercy.

I will say this I have liked all the reowrks so far, the Sombre one rewards good knowledge of her kit. People have been selecting Hanzo over Widow because you can panic storm arrows.

I am curious about what they do to Hog but I think Mercy is desperate for a rework because you cannot get by by being just good at positioning anymore.

Lol you honestly think someone watches replays and would make use of the timestamps?
I'm 99% certain they use some of the algorithms they have for matchmaking, analysing statistics of every match played and detecting possible aberrations. If reports of inting pile up matching the aberrations' date, time, game ID etc the algorithms ban you.
For example: you have 100hours on Ana and 95hours on Kiriko. You average 0.3 deaths per minute on both. Here and there it spikes up but this also corresponds with your whole team getting wiped so it's not aberration. One game, however, you average 3 deaths/min without team wipes. Or maybe you pick Zen and go 25deaths. This is an aberration. The algorithm marks it. Reports from players pile up. This happens 5 times for 20 games or whatever, it's an auto ban.

The notes on reports are probably for the rare case where manual review is required if the person appeals the ban or whatever happens to warrant human intervention. No way in hell they have people manually reviewing even 10% of reports. They'd need to outsource that to the whole New Delhi ffs I alone submit 100 of those every day for every faggot that spams "i need healing" too much.

True. I have 40ish hours on her and she's fun but she needs some general changes and not just boost/heal nerf/buff or GA boost/nerf etc. She provides very little utility for the team other than rez and dmg boost, which is hit or miss in half the matches. Super fun to play but rather useless in a lot of compositions. No idea how Mercy mains push through this nightmare to high GM because often there is so little you can do to help your team it's sad. I understand why many people hate her, when she shines in matches she really does shine bright. But so many times all you can do is watch your team get rekt and hide behind corners OR swap, which Mercy mains never do.
Hope they don't butcher her any more, being annoying is all she's got going for her now

Played a couple rounds of original recipe Junkenstein's Revenge. Felt no need to play a lot since there are no loot boxes to grind for. Not touching the new stuff.

Happy Halloween season, I guess. 🎃
I never liked Overwatch PvE. It's incredibly unfair since the enemy damage output outweighs YOURS by a huge margin. Also, it's not fun just killing robots on multiplayer maps.
