Actually the biggest scams go on in Akiba. You have the Chinese to thank for that. Somebody will walk up to you and offer you a charm. You think it's free but once you take it they refuse to take it back and demand that you pay for it like some ridiculous price like 5000 yen.

And in all the time I lived there I was never scammed. Sure I spoke the language but also I would never go into some sketchy place that didn't show the prices on the menu or anything.
