It's just a way to try and keep content flowing, and to make content out of Null's shit since he doesn't seem to want to have anything to do with them now.
The saying "the opposite of love isn't hatred, it's apathy" exists for a reason. Non-acknowledgement in this instance would hurt them a lot more than put-downs both financially and emotionally.
Knowing Null though he'll get around to it when they start being too boring to be worth the airtime.
