Sure, but every sign indicates that these retards seriously expected things to keep humming along indefinitely at the same level of national economic/political/societal integrity that we've had since the 60's at the earliest.

Maybe some riots here or there but not south of the border bad. South or Central American standards means we have South and Central American solutions to shitty politicians as a legitimate strategy available for crazed assholes and they certainly seem to not want that, or at the very least to have ever expected that our trajectory would tread in that direction like it has been for a decade now.

only the upper quintile of millennials could afford a home BEFORE the pandemic.
Now it's more like the upper decile.
The rest are serfs.
Many have to live with family or roommates.

I wasted my time watching it and the thing that hit me was early on. Vivek R-whatever said something about “we can’t give money to Ukraine”. Then it went to Haley and she said “right, we can’t give money to Ukraine. What we should do is give them weapons and ammunition so they can win”. Does she think that shit is free?

I doubt the Soviets under Chernenko did either. From a DC insider's point of view, they sit at the apex of power, the pinnacle of all the world. Whatever problems the country and world have don't affect them, they're untouchable and unstoppable, those problems are just things that happen to little people. They're surrounded by servants who won't tell them how bad things are until the marble pillars are toppling around them.

The soviet leadership didn't have nearly as many people globally who hated them as the current front-facing tools we call politicians do right now.

They also didn't have knock-on effects to the extent that the american nadir will ultimately wreak upon the world, to worry about, either.

It's going to be a really bright spot in a pretty dark time to hear about what happens to the dumbfucks who flee to other countries when shit goes tits-up.
