Okay, I should clarify. The guys who would do this in normal life? Yeah, they exist and over represented in certain fields (intel and comms) and their weebness is tolerated in proportion to how good they are at their jobs. What I'm talking about are guys who consider anime a guilty pleasure or watch mostly DBZ and wouldn't really talk about it in public under normal circumstances. Now I've debated a while with a few buddies of mine on the matter of the proliferation of weebs/nerds in the infantry, and one theory was it isn't a representation issue, it's that after 2 years or so of living in extremely close proximity to the same guys, no one really gives a shit you have a weird nerd hobby, everyone's got something. Then there's the boredom. In ordinary times you wouldn't, but when the chips are down and it's month 4 of the deployment, and you have to make a choice between spending 6 hours of post staring at a goat through thermals in silence or starting an argument about which sailor scouts do anal, well that's not really a choice.
As impractical as it would be, I bet an F-16 loaded with Mavericks and properly fortified would make a baller AT position.
