Robocop - Dead or alive, you're coming with me

Enemies desperately need death animations. The only indication that you're even shooting at them is the blood that comes out. It actually reminded me of Fallout in that regard.

Wasn't that game a huge failure though?
? I thought the death animations were pretty self evident. Especially when you blow a guy's arm, leg or balls off. Rather liked how center mass just ragdolls guys across the room. Sometimes they get back up but it generally indicates when they die.

I actually hope that they do a sequel that fixes Robocop 3's more egregious errors, like killing off Lewis.

Lewis was great in this game.
I actually love how they are setting up a potential redo of 3 and this game is just leading up to it. They could really play around with some stuff.

I mainly want them to do a Terminator crossover though. That would be awesome and you could do some interesting things with the Japanese robots.

I've noticed there was an option on ps5 menu that prioritizes performance over graphics and that made the experience Wayyyy more good with the cutscenes. Wish I didn't have to look for it but otherwise it's great.

I beat the game a few days ago and loved it. Some weird writing, but the story is pretty good, and it manages to be more satisfying than the vast majority of games. The enemies are a bit spongey around the middle, but once you upgrade Combat and Engineering along with the Auto-9, you should have no problems blasting thugs to pieces. The gunplay is simple but amazingly satisfying.

Whoever that actress is they have playing Lewis, she's fucking amazing. I actually liked the diversity hire Washington, too. Weller is kind of phoning it in, though. He has bizarre enunciation and emphasizes the wrong words constantly.

It sounds like it's way buggier on PC than console. I only had a few issues with audio on PS5, and some FPS chugging. No crashes.

I played on PC on highest settings and did not experience any bug except one or two conversations where the voice didn't play until I restarted.

Nah this is just filling in the gaps between 2 and 3.

I doubt they'd ever retcon out 3.
Honestly it wouldn't be that hard if they took the original script and tweaked it. The last stand comic detailed the original vision that lined up more with 1 and 2.

Samurai ninja was more like the Terminator

What was really cool was he'd get killed repeatedly and keep coming back in spare bodies. If they could somehow swap that out with Arnold that would be the coolest Nemesis shit.

The game has this DX12 error that's preventing people from even launching it.

I should rephrase because my problem is when brains and guts start flying out and the guys are completely unphased. Some kind of momentary stun animation that indicates that they just took heavy damage would be nice.

It's a UE issue. Unreal Engine 5 has trouble decompiling the shaders on some systems which results in an immediate crash. I really wish Carmack never allowed Epic Games have the monopoly on videogame engines.
I suppose we have videogame devs to blame for choosing convenience over the freedom that id offered.

And I keep checking to see if there's been any progress on this issue being fixed and so far nothing.

If every franchise revival was on par with Robocop Rogue City, they would be looked upon with delight instead of dread. Very rarely have I been sad to finish a game because there is no more of it.

Only other thing I can think of that comes even remotely close to a "good revival" is Actraiser Renaissance.

Rogue City is far better than any Triple A game that came out in the last 5 years. It captures the feel of Robocop the same way Alien Isolation did with the Alien franchise, or Arkham City did for Batman.

I loved the level design and it's the first Unreal Engine 5 game I've played that is actually optimized so props to the devs for that. The writing is straight out of the 80's which is to be expected.

Though I do have some minor complaints. The skill system doesn't seem very fleshed out and there are really only 3 (maybe 4) skills that would give you any sort of benefit. The "Psychology" and "Focus" skills are completely useless. The PCB system that changes the stats of the Auto-9 gun was also somewhat confusing and I never found it to make any difference across two different playthroughs. Some of the side missions felt really drawn out, like the one where you have to get signatures for a card and the one where you have to find the right VHS tape for Pickles at the Video Rental store. ("How many references to 80s movies can we fit into this one section of the game?")

Other than that it's a fun game and I would definitely pick it up if it goes on sale.

Thinking about getting this game on Steam. Just wondering how good are destructible environments compared to other classic FPS games like FEAR or Black?

Depends on the area. Most of the time you're so laser focused on shooting bad buys you don't hit the background as much, but there is a decent amount of destruction at some later setpieces. I was impressed with the final boss fight.

I got a bit of a fear feeling when you start fighting the mercenary's. They were a blast to engage, because Even though they are heavily armored I love how shooting them in the head throws off their aim and stuns them for a fraction of a second.
Not to mention they have unarmored family jewels

The upgradeable slo mo is great in short bursts. Although some guns feel a little clunky at longer periods. (Shotgun takes forever to rack)

I feel like there really isn't that many opportunities for the diplomacy option to shine outside of the first hub area or so. There are a handful of interactions if you upgrade it to two as soon as possible. In particular I like how you can use it to take the arcade guy in alive or give a spray can artist community service. Otherwise especially if your playing on hard I can't think of a reason why you wouldn't max out deduction for the bonus xp as soon as possible.

Most of the other abilities are actually pretty useful. Slow mo is a must if you want to consistently not screw up hostage situations. Getting the movement booster is essential for the final boss.

The other thing, is the game actually has a shit ton of quests and opportunities you can miss if you don't pay attention. Deduction says it will mark points of interest on the map but it doesn't actually do anything besides ocp chests and public disorder quests.

You have to actually pay attention and find the five side quests on every hub map and the quests or two on every other main mission.

For example if you don't check the front desk of the police station before a briefing you'll miss an opportunity to play receptionists in the beginning.
