Fredrik Knudsen / "Down the Rabbit Hole" Guy / Loren The Owl - Youtube documentarian turned gay furry vtuber

The whole situation with this guy is odd, but the VTuber thing bothers me in a way most other Vtubers do not, and I think I finally managed to formulate as to "why" that is. I've watched and interacted with several Vtubers over the last few years and both the small scale ones and ones with agency deals are for the most part just normal people that play video games or some form of livestream content with a little animated mocap avatar in the corner. Sometimes they have a bit of goofy lore behind it, stuff like "oh this is actually an ai trapped inside a computer uploading shit to the Internet" or "this person is some kind of socially inept royalty", occasionally stuff even simpler than that like "ghostbuster real" This guy though? He has this super fucking in depth several minute long "explanation" behind his shit trying to frame himself as some super sophisticated cool guy who willed himself into being and talks with ancient civilization leaders in the brain ghost dimension or whatever that tell him history is wrong and not important.

Vtuber avatars and the "lore" videos are usually just made to match the people that stream vidya as like a little extra bonus thing that captures the personality of the streamer. I'm not going to go and try to psychoanalyze what this guys one means if it does mean anything, but the vibes it gives off aren't good.

Who is the audience for Fred's Vtuber content? Reading the chat I can't tell if it's fag hags or gays. Honestly leaning more towards just weird terminally online gays because of the amount of mentions of the words 'twink' and 'femboy' but maybe these fujos do that as well
I don't know about his vtuber content with Astraline but his livestreams as Loren the Owl was filled with TIMs/TIFs and unironic self-diagnosed people suffering "DID"/'systems'. So, literal children who spend too much time on tiktok or tumblr, or adults who are terminally online.
There's a high chance of his current viewerbase being fujos of different ages and TIMs who are terminally online.

Wtf is that voice he is using? It sounds awful. These vtubers really reminds me off 90s video game voice acting levels of shittiness
Forgot to reply to this apparently but even 90s era ps1 voice acting had some form of soul to it as "shitty" as it was half the time. The "shittiness" back then came from the fact characters would have casual indoor speaking voices during extremely unfitting moments, kind of the opposite problem to modern voice acting. This is clearly him trying to put on some kind of "smart guy intellectual who is also soft and caring haha" tone to his voice rather than voice acting. Very reddit-y.

EDIT: I just realized his voice is different in the second video clip what the fuck why is he trying to pitch it up like that it makes it 100% worse!

Isn't the schtick that he will still do his usual content but with a vTuber avatar? I mean, same as Night Mind, he will do his usual ARG videos but with a furry vTuber avatar
Leaving aside his decision on what he wants to do now, he has made an active effort to keep his VTuber thing and DTRH as very separate things. He has done zero shilling on the DTRH channel for his VTubbing when one would think that would be the obvious advertising venue.

Basically, he either drops DTRH outright, or if he does anymore videos, I expect them to keep the current format of semi monotone narration with heavy editing. Also, from what others said about his streaming, he sucks at adhoc content, Fredrick needs a script to work.

Okay so caught up on the thread. I did not watch the EVE video. I have zero interest in it nor have I played it. I could have watched it out of faint curiosity as someone who actually doesn't know it even existed or what it was.

But the consensus is that it's pretty garbage and six fucking hours long. I don't have the time or the patience for that.

Good riddance. if anything, the fucker delivered.
Well that all but confirms that he has no intention of doing any more DTRH videos. Makes me wonder if he's gonna keep the Patreon up to keep the passive income from people who forget to unsubscribe from it, or if he'll actually take it down.
Well, rip decent content I guess. That's scummy if he does.
I know I'm late, but god damn this fucker is legitimately ugly as sin.

The fact he's going down the VTuber route of hooking in a bunch of degenerates with his "femboy act" to try and hide his looks won't ever not be funny.
Eww he looks like a rapist. It might be the hair, the angle, and the light but he looks like he's considering the ways he can knock you down with that hurdy-gurdy and force himself on you.

The structure of his face and whatnot, he can't really help. But he's not doing himself any favors with that hair or that expression.
Fred is streaming at the moment, and it sounds like he's malding a bit over someone saying his video is shit. He's now very calmly (angrily) explaining his video is not shit, and that it has two million views after a week. To his credit, it is doing better then Battle of May Island.
Ah so no "mistakes" video in the making? Progress I guess... The fact that he's seething over someone not kissing his ass is kinda funny though. I guess he became a narc after two years of bullshit.

Did he take that from NightMind who got pissy at his audience for not being interested in his Vtubing shit or whatever? Or is it just guaranteed that you become a vain fag when you create a cult of anime twinkdom personality around yourself?

Anyway...

I feel alone in this but I actually liked the May Island video. The cadence was a bit histrionic but I think it worked to highlight the suspense of what essentially was one giant fuck-up from the Royal Navy that cost innocent lives.

And generally, the story was just really interesting.

It might legit be the hair. Out of all the hairstyles, he had to have picked the most faggot-repulsive looking one. If he shaved it all off, it might bump his looks up a point, but nigga's definitely gotta do other shit like lifting in order to compliment it.

A vtuber I watch once said that you have to have some kind of narcissism or inflated self-esteem to be a streamer. The longer I watch any given streamer, the more that rings true. There's some kind of vanity, narcissism or similar effect going on if you want to entertain people or think you are entertaining enough to attract an audience.
If Fred wasn't already a tiny bit narcissistic he certainly became one with the growth of his DTRH channel.

I know nothing about Eve Online, but is it even worthy of a 6hr long epic? Or is he just trying to play into the trend/ success of YouTube videos being twice the length of feature films?

Besides all the cringe, i still love the Terry A Davis video. It's fucking hilarious to heard him read about running over CIA niggers in that voice, especially with this gay furry vtuber shit being unearthed.
I know nothing about EVE, but I'm not interested in it, yet I've sat through a six hour timeline video on the entire Metal Gear series. It's subjective, and that's still me trying to ignore the gay furry shit. I can't bring myself to watch it because EVE has and never will be interesting outside of random articles talking about how much theoretical worth the game creates and the fact the devs had to hire an actual economy expert to help support things. The fact that the video is successful is just in part to the hype surrounding it.

I actually liked May Island as well, and for a time it sent me down a rabbit hole of stories about maritime ship failures (specifically Maritime Horrors) but it also was one of those videos I could only stand to listen to once, not over inaccuracies, but Fred’s narration was off putting.

A documentary about Boogie, by a brand new youtuber is currently outperforming the Eve video.

Is it any good? I've had it recommended but I'm so tired of people with obviously no passion creating long ass videos while trying to play it safe and give empty platitudes that I've become autistically picky with whatever videos I watch on YouTube.

Two years of constant positive reinforcement on social media has eroded his ability to let criticism slide.
