From what I've seen from men in my time that is, more or less, the ideal power fantasy for men, especially for men that have sowed their wild oats so to speak and are looking to settle down. Is having a woman fall in love with them to the point of wanting to be his wife and have his kids. It's pretty wholesome.

They've got the same things for women, although I've only seen it foreign films and anime in general.

I've seen the anime for it, but there's also a Live Action movie. It's got a Cinderella vibe going for it where the MC is abused by her stepmother and her half-sister. Then, she's sent off to be married to a man with a reputation for being a monster. However, she gradually discovers he is far different than what she expected.

Yes but sadly there is a big difference between Eastern women and Western women. I don't want to be one of those people that say Eastern women are so much better then Western women or whatever. However, there is a big difference between the two in regards to their culture and media. Eastern women value femininity, see it as a woman's greatest strength, love beauty, and a lot of their media for girls is about settling down with their one true love. Not all Eastern media for girls is like this but the ones that are most popular are. It is not like that here in the West. Western women believe that femininity is a weakness. For a woman to be strong she needs to embody all the traits they consider to be toxic in men. Western women are also very jealous of other women that are younger and more beautiful then them (look at video games where there are a bunch of women on the dev team) so they make them ugly in order to tear down the competition. Western media also tells women to value a toxic relationship because "you can fix him" or "he is just more exciting and adventurous". There is a sickness here in the West. However, I will say that it is not just women who are affected by this sickness but also men considering the large amount of troons that exist today here in the West.

Their romance fantasy was to find their own Mr. Darcy someday.

Books like Pride and Prejudice were more or less the standards for female romances back in the day. I think the problem with women today is the same problem with men is that social media has turned their fetish into a lifestyle. I remember on a MATI episode where Null stated that, back then, if another man where to say; "Hey Sneed, ever wonder what it is like to be a woman?" only for Sneed to say; "What the fuck Chuck? Nah, I don't think the mods will bother. Plus it is kind of funny and is only proving both mine and the men's here point. I haven't really bothered her. A good indication of this is that the most popular romance option for female Baldur's Gate 3 players which is Astarion the effeminate vampire spawn who is an utter scumbag. He lies constantly to you, he manipulates you, in his bad ending which he becomes a vampire lord he basically turns you into his sex slave and refuses to let you leave. Yet women LOVE him. "He has such a tragic backstory!", "He is so witty and clever!", "God I love him!". It is funny as the other male romances like Gale and Wyll treat your character like a queen if you romance them but no, women want the abusive dirtbag.

It never ceases to amaze me that a few minutes of awkwardly animated romance can define 100+ hour games for that audience. It's interesting to see a generation shift between BG3 and Dragon Age games though. The zoomer girls are absolutely smitten with Astarion and he's pantomime villain levels of evil. Haven't played with him in finished game, but in early access if you took the "kill the refugees" route his sadistic delight with it at the after party was straight up creepy. Dragon Age never had any companions who were that evil, but half the simping seemed to be towards Cullen who was much more traditional knight in shining armour. Also the contempt they have for the less evil dudes like Gale and Wyll is astonishing, and I've seen them try to argue that acksually those two are acksually more evil when you think about it. Like Gale is a monster for talking shit about the literal Goddess who was space fucking him since he was a teenager. Or that he's really just an addict (Astarion, the nigger who tries to literally bite you, of course isn't though). That said I've seen fags do the exact same thing, and when you consider both Astarion's writer and actor are poofs I wonder if women and fags truly are in alignment with their ((((toxic)))) tastes.

To be fair though if BG3 had some silver haired gothic vampire loli who was acksually 200 years old that you could potentially steer towards being a bit less evil, there'd probably be male coom fountains flowing too. You could probably argue that fellas would like her more if she wasn't evil, whereas it's a key factor for the ladies, but whatever. Also it's a Western game so it would never happen.
