I get what you're saying, and I agree to some extent, but the thing is Nick keeps trying to convince people he's totally Christian. The discussion is in response to his denial, and it'll likely keep coming up as long as he keeps trying to peddle such bullshit. It's not completely out of the blue.

I'm an atheist, so I've got no dog in this particular fight, but I think the sperging over Nick's Christianity is bang on topic here. The whole thread is about the difference between who Rekieta presented himself to be, and who he's actually revealed himself as being. Early on, his whole online persona was about presenting as the based traditional Christian lawyer who was a good husband, a good father and was monogamous.

The divergence between who he claims to be in respect of his faith are just as relevant as the various divergences between presenting himself as a good father, a good husband, a practicing lawyer, a monogamous married man, etc. etc. etc.

I get that you might have no interest in this particular aspect of Rekieta's deviance. It's not my favourite aspect of his story either. Traditionally, people have proposed two strategies for dealing with this problem. Rather than complaining about what other people obviously find interesting, you should:

a.) Post the kind of content that YOU want to see more of. People post to entertain themselves, not to be your performing monkey.
b.) Just skip reading the comments that you aren't interested in.

It has not in this thread. I think it has actually been quite mild and civil on such a potentially inflammatory topic. I think that even the ones in the thread with the strongest opinions have been very circumspect in how they discuss it and in what volume they do it. Most people here seem content to get along very well. I would hate to see that change.

It is an issue. The seeds of it were always present, but it is near constant now. He used to be able to tackle serious subjects, but now he is always trying to tell people not to take things so seriously. I understand the need to have release from stress and not want to cover deep politics and tragedy all the time, but that is supposed to be a break from more normal and serious life. Nick seems to want to inject levity into EVERYTHING at this point. He cries 'muh escapism is important' but what stress is he trying to escape from?
