I do agree with some criticisms that actually have a point with Urbanspook so I'm curious to see what Wendie says. Watching his video rn. I do think Urban has a great premise for his series and has amazing art but it does feel like nothing is really happening. That disturbing things happen for disturbing sake. I'm going to follow Urbanspook regardless because I can stomach anything just to see his sick ass art. But I understand those with actual valid criticisms of his story telling abilities and why they don't like his concept.

There is definitely valid criticism to be given, but the timing of this video when the hate has been ramping up, and Wendi's open adoration of Alex Kister leave a bad taste in my mouth. It's hard to come off objective and fair right now, this will just stoke the flames even more. I wish he had waited a few months. I do think Wendi wants to give a fair review, but everything negative he says now is gonna get snowflake zoomers to feel justified in their poor behaviour.

I just hate censorship in horror so much.

I think there's a way to write around graphic depictions of stuff people might not like, like rape or what have you, but drawing a line in the sand and sperging out about it even existing in works meant to scare is asinine. It's like that Scooby Doo trope where the monster/killer is told off for doing what he's doing by an ignorant bystander, but without a hint of comedy.

Dark Somnium is one. Lighthouse Horror has some decent stuff but he tends to do shorter.

I want some youtubers who explain/explore analogue horror stuff if you got any.

I don't really have any recs for you because I don't like when people explain that kind of thing. I think it defeats the point of the work to be super duper meta about it. Basically, I feel that the less context you have on it, the more interesting it is.

Urban spook might be all style, no substance. Sure. But that's fine if you enjoy shock horror. It's found a niche and can fill it.

If Wendigoon is jumping on to this bandwagon, which it seems like he's doing, but in a more fence-sitty way, he's in for a rude awakening once the genderspecial zoomers find out he's a Christian right wing guy.

It should baffle me that the "let people enjoy things!" crowd is trying to deplatform someone they personally don't like, but it doesn't. When they say "let people enjoy things" it's just "do what I deem acceptable or do nothing at all".

I really like Wendigoon and thought he was somewhat based so this is immensely disappointing to me. Horror needs to have the freedom to be over the top and grotesque; it's fucking horror. Horrifying the viewer is the goal.

Given how all these hit-piece videos are popping out and all of them are appearing one by one "coincidentally", made by familiar horrortube people, I wouldn't be surprised if this is an organized group effort and that there is someone from that community leading/encouraging these hit piece videos.

Give it a year or two, maybe even less and we're gonna see this whole community implode similarly to how the art/"tea" community imploded during Creepshows Art shitstorm. We're gonna most likely see all these key figures that participated in demonizing Urbanspook turn against one another and start cannibalizing themselves.

We're going to see "This youtuber was an emotionally manipulative/gay/whatever the buzzword of the week is" and Google Docs callouts, one way or another. With communities like these who mainly prosper and thrive by witch hunting wrong think people, it's only a matter of time they start throwing each other under a bus when they're out of targets.

That's exactly what people do, in all "communities" on YouTube. Ultimately it seems like a waste of time. Basically people group together and make online friends. I never understood doing anything but trying to make money, and if all they want to do is make money I don't understand why unless it's to capitalize on people's tendency to have a negativity bias, I think it's called, and that this is what they do to make money. That makes me hate them even more though, because in that case, they do not actually care about anything. It's just a false wall of virtue. But they will be sure to get up and virtue signal and morons in the comments will be sure to holler.
