Cyberpunk 2077 Grieving Thread

Could also line up for a sequel where our skills are more than just cybernetic's based. After all CP2020 still had weirdass john wu bullshit without any hardcore cybernetic implants involved.
I mean there's more classes than being Solo, after all.
with how OP V becomes once they got a taste of what the black wall can do, I can just imagine a warlock-like skill but you make a pact with a rogue AI.

Didn't the time of the red set most tech back decades? With how revisionist Pondsmith is with every edition, isn't 2077 not really the future of any previous editions or something to be deemed a definitive canon? The flashbacks to 2010s and 2020s are incredibly analog. Even the layout of NC is completely weird, like the missing stadium and mall somewhere where Charter Hill is in 2077. I think they were hit by the NC Holocaust but I don't remember a single reference to them in 2077 unless I missed it.

Edit: The funny part about NC in game is how European the roads are, like breaks in concrete medians on highways, truly open highways and left hand exits of roads.
RED is just a terrible retconning of the decisions CDPR made for 2077. They did give us a magnificent setting that hits all of the standard cyberpunk depression vibes, but it did come at the expense of the actual TTRPG setting. I can't really blame them too much for that though. 2020 is a very ridiculous 1990's view of the future and having V fight his way through homicidal clowns and the Spanish Inquisition just wouldn't sell well at all in the current zeitgeist.

I don't get why posergangs and the not-furries were completely removed instead of just adapted into slightly less silly territory with just body morphing being more displayed in gangs. Ozob played it straight and it was not a bad questline.

IIRC they released it to past gen consoles that weren't up to playing it. It's pretty much always worked on good gaming PCs.
As a console subhuman myself, I played at launch on a last gen Xbox putting 100+ hours in on my initial playthrough and I felt the “unplayable” claims were hyperbole(granted it was an Xbox One X.) It was buggy and would crash to the home screen occasionally but I finished the game and had a lot of fun while doing it.

My main issue with last-gen was how dead the city felt with the limited npc crowds and traffic. I’ve gotten a Series X since then and it’s much better comparatively but I’m sure it’s even better on PC.

This must be delibrate. Your best friend has just died, and when you get out of the car, all you see is @bango skank's butt advert.
The ubiquitous advertising and constant blaring speakers whenever you’re walking around a market or in a megabuilding elevator really add to the immersion for me. Living in Night City is like living on a fandom wikia page without adblock. Also I think theyre pretty funny

I hate the ad that has a guy who sounds like he's about to coom. It's so fucking loud.

Considering everything else they had to cut, you're asking about the exotics? Granted, some of the posergangs wouldn't take a lot of work, especially since NPCs could be shamelessly duplicated, so I think I'll agree with you on how shameful that was.

I still remember the first time going to the area below Kabuki towards the jacked ripperdoc. The same woman with a Jew nose was at every single vendor stall and just walking around. Over a dozen of the same Jew. It stuck with me. That said, yeah that's what I meant. The gangs have unique pools of like 20 they draw from. So it would've been easy for some group to have arm or face replacers swapped to them to make them slightly more animalistic. Posergangs would fit pretty easy with how copy/paste the gangs are. Especially the Valentinos. I swear there's only like six models for them because there's always the same cholo girl with holsters and flannel in every Crime in Progress.

The weirdness in the hypercapitalistic world was what stands out but the game just keeps it to advertisements. It would actually be a pretty great social critique of the modern world to show the extremes people go to with replacing God and purpose with buying shit to feel like the belong. 2077 would rather just have takes about "life is less sad when friends".

There was actually an easter egg about the exotics in the expansion: while I was walking through a big party I came across a conversation where some rich guy was talking about making some high-end clinic make his daughter over into a crocodile even though exotics went out of fashion back in the 2040s.

I hope there's some context to that remark other than "Because I fucking can"...

It's apparently what she wanted for her birthday or somesuch. The gist of his conversation was that she wanted body mods to look like a crocodile, the clinic people were telling him that was out of fashion and a bad idea, he didn't care and made them do it anyways, then disowned her for making herself over into a freak.

Ah... now that's the true grimdark cyberpunk we all know and love.

That ad got toned down in 2.0. They made him sound less intense but I think it was due to them adding a Japanese version and them wanting the ads to match.

Is there a place that goes over all these retcons?

Aside from all sorts of scattered posts in this thread? No clue.

Oh, I forgot to ask, but do you recall where and when this was in the expansion?

PSA: Do not forget to collect the Hercules 3AX (prototype Smart Rifle with integrated Smartlink) aka the Brap Cannon during Gig: Roads To Redemption.

Akshuhually there is one named Animals enemy who appears during a NCPD organized crime gig in Heywood that looks like Bane and Killer Croc had a baby:
Denzel "The Brain" Cryer
Catgirls going out of fashion is probably the most unrealistic thing about the absence of exotics.

Yeah, the party in the Black Sapphire for the mission You Know My Name, in a hallway-ish side of the party between the main room and the casino.
Yeah, I found it. Just a custom cybernetic faceplate, nothing full body. Father tells her she has to look like human royalty if she wants to get anything more from him and that the rest of the mods are on her.

Kemonomimi in general. You'd think there'd be no shortage of sex tourists coming to Japantown for super-horny bunnygirl joytoys. For a place that looks Akihabara got turned into a fucked-up rape hentai there's not nearly enough tails and ears walking around.

EDIT: Forgot to mention I finished up the Songbird path in Phantom Liberty. The final fight wasn't nearly as climactic as I was led to believe since somehow before the shooting even started I took out half the guys during V's assault on the tower with a System Collapse on the NUSA Netrunner during his attempted hack, and afterwards everything else was pretty tame. Unsurprisingly Mr. Blue Eyes was Songbird's escape contact and he watches the two of you during the whole thing. CDPR better give us a second DLC centered around him and what he wants because my balls are bluer than his irises with how much they've teased him.

I cleared the entire map in the first month and now on a second playthrough and I forgot about this. He has the yinglong crafting specs so I'm sure I've done it. Now I'm just even more confused they changed the biomods the Animals use to all just to turn themselves into 'roided beefcakes instead of half furries.

Even cat eye cyberware would definitely be a fashionable thing in Japanophile areas but the most you ever see are just Us Cracks' eyes being strange or the funny pupil options. All you get is occasional Batou looking eyes. Or the Maelstrom ??? eyes with no visible optics.

Fortunately this exists. I run a male V so I haven't bothered installing it though. I'm no Nick Fuentes after all. Tails need a ton of work to look like actual tails instead of just a weird costume thing, though.

As to those still curious about why V can't use combat implants when you get the FIA surgery, best guess is there's just not enough brain left to handle the strain. Reed says they had to do deep invasive work to cut the engram out safely, and he's probably talking in literal terms. Not even nanobots could fix the damage after the neural matrix was done with V's brain. As to how bad it is...

Look at that response time. Just doesn't have the neural bandwidth. Your motor cortex is just gone.

Look at that response time.
Literally worse ping than a Starlink connection.

I was under the impression they didn't use it on Songbird or V, repaired the damage conventionally (hence the 2 year coma) and kept the AI stashed away for whatever ungodly crap Myers has in mind with it.
After all if you get her to the Moon Song sends you her gift a week or so later ingame.
