Here I thought they were the new diverse magical characters from the Remake of Snow white. 😂
I mean, there's seven of them, so it's probably supposed to be a rEfReNcE to the first disney movie that instead of 7 dwarfs she has 7 diverse people, but they really do just look like full on background characters in a cheap 3d disney cartoon series.

If id have to guess, fat cripple asian is doc, the normal girl is bashful, the actual dwarf is grumpy, the big nose one is sneezy, the black one is Happy, the ginger one sleepy and the blonde one dopey.
All of them sort of do match the specific dwarfs colours, especially dopey.
However, instead of charming most of them just look boring af.

The dwarves were supposed to be not that developed because there were seven of them and the old movies didn't focus on development, but in new movies its different. Even Encanto ended up only really focusing on Mirabel, her 2 sisters, Bruno and the Grandma with its big cast because otherwise it would be very bloated. Aside from fat asian all these friends are probably gonna be extremely half assed.

I think he got poached by Skydance Animation like a lot of old-school Disney talent.
No, he returned to compose the score for all of the live-action remakes of the animated movies he was involved with (The Little Mermaid, B&TB, Aladdin, The Lion King), and composed the score for the Enchanted sequel, Disenchanted, which came out last year. So his omission from Wish has absolutely no excuse.

I'm no expert, but I'm pretty sure three is supposed to come before four.

Three would be more interesting if they went with the original ending for 2. Where Arendelle is destroyed and no one knows Elsa is alive because it ends with the Nokk dragging her body onto some shore.
What is it with modern Disney and being allergic to actually good story concepts?!

They changed frozen 1 very last minute to make their main villian a yas queen slay instead because keeping her a villian could be seen as sexist and homophobic or something, and in general threw out a lot of interesting concepts, and they were rewarded with it being successful to absolutely insane degrees and still being their main toy/merch franchise almost a decade later as far as im aware, or at least on par with the other princesses together.
Also every ending has to be completely happy now, cliffhangers/characters (even villians) actually dying aren't allowed anymore.

And they're allergic to the slightest edge. Even emotional abuse is either stupid twist shit or very mild, mother gothel might be too edgy even for current disney.

Also they stopped ripping general stories from fairytales and improving it, or they still do it but are just absolutely shit at it.

No, they wrote Let it go and loved the song so much that changed where the movie was going because the Snowqueen came across so sympathetic. They were not exactly wrong there as the song was an absolutely huge hit and defined the movie in the public eye many ways.

Not arguing disney being allergic to any meaningful edge. The conflicts are so lame and one sided to the boot too. Just absolutely boring crap.

Oops, think I mixed up the official statements of the crew I saw years ago with someone else bitching about how let it go is a gay metaphor and making a woman be a villian after singing a song about independence would've been bad, can't believe I let the 'disney is antisemitic because their villians look like jewish stereotypes' crowd gaslight me.

(Also, saw a tiktok complaing about the villians looking like jews, where 2 of their 3 main examples were FROLLO whos very obviously christian, and JAFAR whos an arab)

Elsa was fine as a character, however I do feel like the change from villian to redeemable villian to just misunderstood (and also many people being convinced shes a lesbian (for her sister)) ended up snowballing into whatever the clusterfuck was that happened in raya and the last dragon, and in general the lack of real villians with maybe some side/twist villian thrown in to defeat. Most of the main antagonists the past decade or so have been redeemed.
Wish is gonna have an actual villian again but its probably gonna be executed very badly.

Ok I haven't seen anyone talk about this on the thread, but supposedly the magical bandits are Prince Charming's posse, and the seven "little men" are in the film separately as would be traditional. If this is true, it makes a lot of kvetching over the last few weeks irrelevant, but Disney would still be dumb for introducing a bunch of new characters to meet the DEI quota.

Am I only one who absolutely hates her hair? It's so modern safe edgy. She looks like a student in a weekend medieval festival in some US college town. Beyond that it doesn't fit her placement in the story. She is a worker in castle, her hair should be out of the way and protected from getting dirty like Cinderella had hers during chores.

Even if I could get past the style it just doesn't fit with rest of her designs. The braids are too detailly textured compared rest of her. She genuinely looks better in this stupid hood thing.

Hell, even if they wanted it down, it probably would've looked a lot better just parted down the middle. This faux sideshave doesnt strike me as very traditionally African.

Naturally, Disney went with a modern and very bland option for their black character which is probably just some African-American shit rather than something Mediterranean blacks wouldve been wearing.
