They definitely have been smuggling in drones, ATGMs, and landmines; it just turns out to have not been enough.

Have any videos/reports? Only drones I know of are the ones at the very start used against the watch towers and that one against a tank. Haven't seen anything since than. Only use of ATGMs that I know of are the ones in the north by Hezbollah. Which they used against an APC and more watch towers.

Most people accept this by adulthood, but not these people. So they keep escalating, because this will finally be the thing that somehow magically tips the scales and gives the movie a happy ending. "Shutting down the Bay Bridge" and "causing a ceasefire in Gaza" have no causal connection, but that doesn't matter if your mind operates on the same level as a toddler who thinks throwing himself on the ground and screaming will reverse the fact that he just dropped his ice cream cone.

A Tanzanian student taken hostage on October 7 was announced as dead.

Tanzania’s foreign ministry announces the death of Clemence Felix Mtenga, a 22-year-old citizen who was thought to have been among the hostages in Gaza.

Mtenga was in Israel as part of a modern agriculture training program in the Gaza border town of Nir Oz. He and fellow Tanzanian national Joshua Luito Molal have been unaccounted for since the October 7.

The foreign ministry statement does not provide any details regarding Mtenga’s death but says it is in contact with Israeli authorities about bringing his body back to Tanzania for burial.

Mtenga and Molal were among of roughly 260 young Tanzanians in Israel as part of the collaborative government program between the two countries.

No details released beyond this, but Israel is working with Tanzania to return his body home. My guess is he's been recovered from the hospital alongside the two Israeli women.

I doubt there's any comfortable way to know this, but I'm curious as to when Clemence Felix Mtenga, Yehudit Weiss and Noa Marciano were killed. Soon after being taken hostage, or more recently? If it was more recently, (like, with the IDF in striking distance of the hospital), I can see the IDF changing tactics and conducting raids to clear buildings, civilians be damned, to try to prevent hostages from being killed.

Four released, 1 rescued, and I think 4 dead so far (the old man, and the three near the hospital. 5 if you want to include the rave woman who was dead on the truck, but Hamas sympathizers claimed was totally alive). I'm not counting the "Hamas totally said airstrikes killed x hostages" without any proof of who they were.

If these hostages were killed recently, and I mean, when Israel was in range of taking the hospital, I can see them doing commando operations, killing basically anybody in their way in the chance to recover hostages alive. If they died a while ago (and were dumped, or shoved into a morgue) then I can see Israel still being more cautious in taking facilities were they think hostages might still be, including negotiating for the surrender of people inside those facilities. As fucked as it is, the chance of hostages being recovered is likely holding Israel/the IDF back.

The IDF and Shin Bet (basically Israel's NSA) both recommended this provision, and it was requested by the US.

The IDF stated they don't want a pandemic to occur in Gaza while military operations were underway, and I'm guessing (the article doesn't state it) they want telecommunications restored to see if any retarded Hamas cockroaches communicate about where they are/where a hostage is located.

I disagree. I think the hostages is keeping the IDF from just drowning the tunnels and shooting anybody who comes out of them, or bunker busting them. If Hamas starts killing hostages (my guess is a large chunk of them are dead already, especially any male hostages) then there's no reason for the IDF to give any fucks about destroying facilities from afar. The hostages are basically the only leverage Hamas has now.

Israel isn't even pretending to give a shit about the UN this time around, the Arab world, for the most part, are playing their song and dance routine, but won't stop Israel (and good odds Egypt and the Palestinian Authority both want Hamas dead to a man), Hezbollah and Iran aren't going to do more than what they've done so far. Outside of Trudeau being a weasel, in order to not piss off the Muslim vote in Canada he needs to not be destroyed completely at the next election, Western countries have stayed mum or embraced Israel. Hamas probably expected international pressure to curtail Israel, but that isn't happening this time.
