My Theotheory:

Dave is neither a Republican nor a Democrat.
The thing is, he gets all of his opinions off of Twitter because he has zero interactions with any people irl.
Everything.
So now that Musk took over the site there is less censorship on there and thus Dave sees more and more clips/posts about stationary people doing stationary things.
And this becomes his new reality.

Similar to him reading about one or two FGC dudes complaining about Mortal Kombat on Twitter and now in his mind "the whole FGC" has the same opinion.

As for Phil I think it's common knowledge that he registered as a Republican in CT in 2003, he voted for Mitt Romney in 2012, and hasn't voted since he moved to Washington where he has never even registered to vote.

I don't think Phil specifically watches any news network, I think he pretty much gets all his information from hot takes he sees scrolling Twitter. He just skinwalks Twitter to pretend he's a real person with thoughts and ideas.
So whatever the algorithm is pushing him on Twitter is what he's going to oink about, and right now "rampant crime in Democrat run cities" is a popular talking point. I would guess the algorithm is pushing him that content because he's a paranoid shut in who engages with that topic rather than attributing it to a political affiliation.
Phil has said in the past that Fox News is the only news network that isn't extremely Liberally biased, but that they are just biased the other way and that there needs to be "more news that's for Independants." That's his big brain take.

The endless ranting about how more popular streamers "don't do anything different" yet earn more than him and don't need that money. Fake sympathy for workers. Manufactured rage at management. Multiple statements about how the government should take care of the people (him). Refusal to acknowledge anyone as better than him (ie. rejection of class hierarchy).

I get it. DSP sometimes presents as if he has a strong definition of right vs wrong and strong affinity to establishing "borders" (isolationism). The problem is he's not doing that to conserve anything except money.

This actually makes me wonder: why the hell is he (supposedly) going to the dump multiple times a month? I know Phil lives in a West Coast hellhole that forces him to use three or four cans to separate his garbage but he and Kat are a DINK household (or they were, before she got too fat to stock shelves anymore) - how much MSW can they honestly be generating such that a weekly trash pickup can’t keep the snortfort from overflowing with refuse?

I’ve been to my town’s dump a grand total of once and it was because I needed to safely dispose of half-full paint cans and a busted CRTV, and they have a program for that. Why is this loser loading the Camry full several times a month? And with what?

It's mostly because of Doordash. They literally Doordash slop every single fucking day at least once and those styrofoam food containers coupled with the disposable utensils they most likely get with them really add up fast. A few weeks ago he said he finally cleaned out his garage and he had so many of those fucking containers that they went up to the garage's ceiling. When it comes to groceries he seems to buy way more than he needs and then the next week he throws away everything he or the big bitch didn't devour. It's staggering just how wasteful he is but then he'll bitch about muh crymate change when Seattle gets hit by one of those blazing 25 degree (80 for my Burger loving friends) Summers like the coastal elite hypocritical faggot that he is. He also hoards Jasper's cat shit, which is something he admits. He often has at least one month's full of catshit in his garage before he finally goes and takes it to the dump.
