@X Prime has masterfully deducted my ruse, I kneel.

It was elementary, Watsgrave.

You see, first I applied the iron law that everyone lies on the Internet. Then, I deduced what the most inconsequential fib would be. Thus, eureka, it came to me.

The guys in this thread calling you a consoomer are those who bought the remakes day one, full price.
That's a good point. I bought RE2 but held off at 3 and 4 because I saw the way the wind was blowing.

I might try 4R at discount but id sooner buy the og VR version
I would have drop kicked that fucking girl, but I guess I'm just built different.
You're allowed to shoot her and have plenty of bullets. They have no effect and that right there was uniquely terrifying to me.
Usually in most games you have limited ammo but fear gives you bucket loads and still somehow is able to maintain tension. They were very thoughtful of music, environment and variety.

Also while she is a kid for most of 1 and the beginnings of 2 after that she drops it for a more... Provocative form. She essentially becomes a soul sucking succubus. You're probably wondering how that's scary. Trust me they did the best job possible of making something like that genuinely unnerving and wrong.

It also helps that in 2 they coded her to follow you around at certain points and not scare you until you see her. You might never notice if you don't turn around. It might be my nostalgic youth talking, but they did a really good job balancing the scares just enough to never get old.

You know I've been playing a pretty interesting horror game you guys might like. Haven't finished it but it's called "Of sound mind"

Kinda feels like a first person RE crossed with half life. There's a lot of interesting puzzles and storytelling.

Basically you're tripping balls while also trying to figure out why you and a bunch of other people went insane.

F.E.A.R of jail?
Hey she may have the mind of little girl but we locked her the basement for 20 years so her walking translucent corpse is legal.... In hell.

@X Prime I'll never play them but oh yeah. Any top down or side scroller is 20 times scarier because you can't see anything ahead of you. Every room is a potential death drap and anything can come from anywhere. You cant easily predict what is possible and what's coming.

I would only try that shit if I somehow get a gun. Otherwise I'm good.

You might not be a consoomer, but you have proven to have the shittiest takes on this site as far as movies and vidja is concerned.

It's hard to believe, but most of the good horror games nowadays are RPG Maker quasi-weebshit.
They are definitely trying their best but I just can't get scared by big eyed anime girls going 'AAAAIE!' as they are eaten/raped/some other horrible thing that's meant to unsettle me. It's like some teenager trying way too hard on Deviantart.

"Ooh I drew Hatsune Miku but like a dark and fucked up version of her, haha, welcome to my twisted mind~!"

Fear and Hunger was alright but the gameplay was basically testicular torsion.

Personally, I've always been put off by the inescapable sensation that whomever was in charge of making these titles was doing so with one hand in their pants. Maybe Witch's House or Corpse Party or whatever are good games, and they've got some brutal scenes from what I remember when I watched playthroughs, but that whole thing of "anime schoolgirl gets turned into a pink splotch" just unsettles me for the wrong reasons. Maybe I'm just too internet-accursed. I haven't tried any newer stuff, like F&H.

There's definitely an unpleasant fetishistic element to a lot of them that I always pick up on as well. With weebs it's almost never an aesthetic chosen for anything OTHER than fetish appeal. If my horror needs psychosexual elements I'd like to know it was meant to unsettle, not give a boner.

Fear and Hunger stands out to me because it isn't a traditional big eyed moe aesthetic. It's good but only if you are willing to accept it being painful to play on purpose. Personally, if I were to go through it again, I'd probably cheat.
