i'm gonna wager that it went something like, she heard her parents complaining about grandpa or how difficult it is taking care of him, and staph had to waddle into the room and interject with some half-assed attempt to tell them to be nice to gramps because he's sick. ma and pa and said something along of the lines of "that's a great point, thank you stephanie!" but the implication was "yeah sure whatever you say, why don't you go write your little stories while the adults take care of grandpa" and staph waddled out feeling proud that she did something big and important. it's like how you'd humor a toddler for helping mommy do dishes when all they did was dry and put away one bowl while mommy did the rest of them. this is just speculation though, but considering they treat her like a retarded child in all aspects of her life, i think that's how it went.
