Since DSP had another segment pigsplaining his heinous and disgusting views on charity, I feel compelled to say this: DSP, you are an utterly contemptible cunt.

All his rants on this topic boil down to is "charity is supposed to be a sacrifice and I won't do it if it also benefits myself", but in his asshole mind he doesn't realize (or he does realize and refuses care) that he's reducing charity purely to its performative aspects with that notion, exactly the thing he's pretending to try to avoid.
DSP you stupid fucking moron, you utterly despicable leech on society, charity is not for you to "do" a sacrifice and be a good little roman-catholic, or for you to get publicity, it's TO HELP someone.
It's obvious he sees nothing but the fundraiser and what he calls "raising attention" in a charity, not the actual charity.

Who cares if Mr. Beast makes some money while also doing a good thing (I have no idea if that's true, i don't give a shit about Mr. Beast)?!
In reality of course Dave is just too greedy and self-obsessed to put some goal beyond himself and his disgusting little household into the limelight. Man, I hope this piece of shit gets what's coming to him soon.

I'll take a millionaire or billionaire giving millions to charity for a tax break or publicity over people like Phil who claim to do things for "the right reasons," but never seem to have any receipts. Phil won't even gift subs or memberships to his viewers but we are supposed to believe he's making charitable contributions "behind duh scenes" ?

As someone who works in Finance and is also in charge of our companies Charity programme, his whining about a charity stream was so fucking funny to me.

‘Guys! The money would be in my account! It needs to be in the charities account! Plus I’d need to somehow tell the tax man! It’s so complex! You don’t understand guys! You can’t just COLLECT on behalf of a charity then DONATE what you’ve collected! It’s so complex for a small streamer!’

It was like listening to a little kid tell you all the reasons they can’t clean their room.

(Edit - it’s just struck me the irony of him pretending an online payment is difficult when he sulks if his viewers don’t do it 300 times a day).

I can only assume he's referring to the passage in Mark 12:41-44. This is a story where Jesus yells at some Pharisees for relieving citizens of their wealth in order to build a grand place of worship. They wanted their church to be beautiful and artistic A place worthy of God. And it was to the point where the Pharisees would take from even the poor in order to maintain the temple. So Jesus enters temple and watches as the Pharisees give a large portion of the wealth as offering to God. A widow comes in and gives 2 coins which basically add up to a penny in modern times. Jesus remarks:

This poor widow has cast more in than all they . . .for all they did cast in of their abundance, but she of her want did cast in all that she had, even all her living.”
Luke 21:3

43: And he called his disciples to him, and said to them, "Truly, I say to you, this poor widow has put in more than all those who are contributing to the treasury.
44: For they all contributed out of their abundance; but she out of her poverty has put in everything she had, her whole living."

Mark 12:43 (NKJ)

So what DSP took from this is that it's better to give in humility than to give in a boisterous way. That's not at all what the story means. The reason it's important to have the context of Jesus yelling at the Pharisees for taking from the poor is because what he says is in reply to that situation. It's not that the Widow was the best because she quietly put her offering in. It was that she had nothing and she gave all she had. Jesus wasn't condemning anyone for giving. He was upset that they just kept taking and it wasn't equal to what they were giving.

So literally what DSP does goes against any teaching in the Catholic bible but especially this one. The one that apparently makes him better than everyone else. He expects to be paid $300 a day and keep all his donations small. And i highly doubt he ever gives to God which was the POINT OF NEARLY ANY CATHOLIC TEACHING ABOUT MONEY. Sorry. I'm not trying to be Pasta Derrick. But if you know the story you know why it's so dumb for him to die on the "Roman Catholic" hill.

And one more thing. I don't know about Mr. Beast. I don't care. I heard he helped a blind kid see. How exactly is that harming anyone? "oh it was a prank and a stunt". Sure dude. Maybe Beast is the AntiChrist. The point is Phil's views on charity and him using religion as a shield are completely messed up.

And the thing is, it’s obviously completely possible to be a boisterous hypocritical asshole when giving alms, and to only do it because you want to be seen as a good person; the right thing for the wrong reasons. But if you’re the streamer raising money for a charity, *you’re not giving alms*. Your viewers are. So it doesn’t even track. He’s drawing attention to a cause, not actually performing the act of charity.

Anyway god will figure that shit out on His own. And if you don’t want to even introduce the appearance of benefitting personally, there’s a simple fix: don’t. Don’t accept any pahsitive contributions yourself. Only allow your viewers to donate to the cause.

It’s just so tiresome, trying to pin his selfishness on a terrible misreading of scripture.

I've never liked rich, popular people doing charity events where regular people give money and the "celebrity" gets all the credit.

Phils issue is thus, he feels entitled to his viewers money, so if they give to a charity its like his money being donated, the only way he'd do it is if every dollar given to charity was matched by a whale and given to Phil, like those moms that bring a present for their kid to open at other kids birthdays.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but can't you easily set up a charity stream thru Youtube and they handle 99% of the work, all the streamer has to do is pick a charity to donate to and do the stream?

A lot of major charities allow you to set up fundraisers on their website with various customizations and all you have to do is promote the link. Depending on the features of their site, you'll often get various stats like total raised, number of contributions, individual contributions, ect.. Some of the more advanced ones even have APIs...

As someone who deals with a new charity every month; there’s dozens of ways that couldn’t be easier. 99% of the charities like something like GoFundMe so they can push the link themselves.

Occasionally you get a small one that wants you to collect the money for them. It could not be easier; you note the money as it comes in (like pig does every day) then transfer them the money when you’re done. It’s all extremely auditable without even really trying. The tax man doesn’t get involved because you DONT DECLARE CHARITY COLLECTIONS AS INCOME. You can prove you donated everything that came in (if they don’t trust you enough to even check). If you donated any resources, you can get a tax break on them but it’s so simple I never bother claiming my time.

As someone said, it’s all just excuses and we’re giving him too much credit.

WRONG!
"You see, *SNORT* all those stupid mentally ill mouth droolers would bombard the charity with all those DISGUSTING racist and sexist comments from 10-14 years ago and what do you expect me to do when the link goes down during the stream because of it?"

"Eh? What? Look at this morahn, now he is telling me I could easily set up a new link in 30 seconds during the stream. Wait a minute, how about... *fumbles around for 60 seconds in complete silence* NOOOOOOOOOO?"

It's already 3 weeks old and many have played it. Dave missed out on Robocop, I think it's a rare game he would actually like. But Indie game bad for Mr. Serious Game Award Reviewer.
I don't think he is going to like it. Robocop is pretty stiff and slow, and the few boss fights there are, are drawn out fights that are pretty tough. There is plenty of walking sim gameplay that he will enjoy though.

As for the charity sperging he likes to do every year or so, less we forget his family's history on the subject:
