This is how my mom used to operate. She's changed a lot over time, but as my siblings and I were were growing up, she had a lot of ideas that weren't well-grounded in reality but she thought sounded good in her head. She enacted rules based on a whim because she read something or heard something from one of her friends. Unfortunately, she enacted way too many rules and couldn't even be bothered to remember most of them.

Perhaps I'm being unfair because I base a lot of my thoughts on women on observing my mom, but there it is.

Do you ever think that maybe you're interacting with a type of woman who isn't a good match for you?

At times it's been the other way around. I've usually broken things off because I've had to admit I wasn't a good match for her. A lot of that has to do with my mental state and I've slowly come to conclude I probably won't ever get married because there's too much wrong with me. I'm slowly trying to turn my life around, but it's been difficult and my support group has greatly dwindled. It also doesn't help that we're in a shitty economy right now either.

Do you think this is a particularly male thing?

No, but I think it's more generally focused on men. Most recent example that'll help illustrate a point I want to make is this story right here. I only thought of it because it was recent, but there are any number of stories like this where a man does something right, and he is punished for it.

What this is an example of is the system punishing people who do the right thing or who are trying to make the world a better place. Those systems are in place everywhere and they sneak up on you no matter the situation.

While there's pushback on things like the MeToo movement and Paternity Fraud, the fact of the matter is there's a lot of ground to cover insofar as men tend to have their lives ruined by women. This causes men, as a whole, to become apathetic because they don't want their lives ruined by the injustices they see other men suffering. This is why I'm also particularly careful about whom I try to match with.
