When you deliberately ostracize yourself from your family and friends out of paranoia then blame them for it.

I'm not saying gays have never been ostracized from their families and probably still are even in our more tolerant times, I'm saying "modern queers" do it to themselves as an attempted power play. Typically over minor disapproval or not enough approval and attention. Even if Zac was in the former group, since he's a gay dude, that's all the more reason for Tony, his soon to be wife (no rainbows pls, this is a safe space), to invite him to his more tolerant family gatherings instead of trying to leverage the gatherings against some imagined slight from someone who probably has no idea what they did wrong.

Just anecdotally, my gay friends and acquaintances from earlier in life preferred showing up when not explicitly told to stay away as the form of confrontation. Though this may have been related to the lack of methods of ideological posturing and social signaling to complete strangers available at the time.

New anti-lgbtq bill in Florida could elimibate [sic] all lgbtq nonprofits and ban trans workers from sharing pronouns. #lgbtq #trans #transrights #transgender

A new bill in Florida could close down every single LGBT organization in the state. On top of that, it would require all government workers, as well as anybody that contracts with the government, to abide by don't-say-gay-like policies. Let me explain.

So the bill is HB 599, and it's one of the first pre-filed bills of 2024 that I've seen so far. This bill would tell all government workers, as well as contractors, that you can no longer share your pronouns at work if they do not correspond to your biological sex. This means it would be virtually impossible for trans people to work as a government contractor or in the government of Florida. You would essentially be forced back in the closet.

It also has stipulations for non-profits. If you are a non-profit in Florida, you would not be able to require as employment your employees to take trainings on any LGBTQ topics. Now think about that for a moment. What does that mean if you are an LGBT organization? If you're a 501(c)(3), a 501(c)(4), and your goal is to get LGBTQ candidates elected, or your goal is to advocate for LGBTQ policies, you would not, as a non-profit, be able to run that company. You would not be able to run an LGBT organization.

This would effectively eliminate all LGBT orgs in the state of Florida. It would also eliminate a lot of community health organizations that work with AIDS and HIV patients. How could you possibly teach about AIDS and HIV without also talking about LGBTQ issues? This is a transparently fascist play to eliminate opposition groups in Florida that are LGBTQ inclusive and also to eliminate anybody that advocates against the anti-LGBTQ laws in the state. HB 599 has to go down.

I know how hard it can be for queer people around family during Thanksgiving. A lot of us either don't have the family that we want, we don't have the acceptance for our families, or we have to sort of closet ourselves or hide ourselves.

And it's so important to make that space during Thanksgiving. To be able to find queer, trans, and allies who are going to be there for you, who can invite you into their homes. And if you are fortunate enough to have that family yourself, or fortunate enough to be able to have a home to invite others into, please, over the holidays, please consider bringing in queer, trans, LGBTQ people who do struggle with acceptance during this time.

It's so nice whenever you do find those people. We just got back from Queersgiving and it was just a bunch of people enjoying one another. And that's how it should be, like, chosen family is so important. And finding those people who will be there for you is just, it's so important.

And for me, it's important that the places where you find love, where you find spots where you can anchor yourself, you have to look for them and you have to be open to the world 'cause they show up in places you don't expect it.
