I'm surprised there are fics that have been taken down from AO3. I always heard nothing gets censored there and that's why all the freaks flock to it.re the archive of our own thing;

she sees this, and that little green checkmark means that it's been "approved", thus making it visible to everyone.
it's not really a done thing on ao3, it's only if you're writing insanely fucked up shit and you're embarrassed by people calling you out on it. just hunting through the jeff/oc tag shows that a lot of people have made their works "only viewable by registered users"

the blue lock means that you can't read the work unless you have an ao3 account or invite link. this is more common for if you're writing a request / commission or something personal. i can't find a fic right now, but a red lock means it's been considered too fucked by ao3 admins, and only those who already had it bookmarked, have a link to the fic in question or are staff / retired staff are able to read it.
before you guys ask, no, as far as i can tell, yarrow doesn't have any red locks. not even a blue-locked fic. she did have a red-locked fic in her bookmarks that i think was just straight up child abuse, but it's been deleted.
Concerning that people can opt out of warnings on fics while including things like incest and rape.
