One Piece - I'm Gonna Be the Pirate King!

Vegapunk would likely have been ordered to turn Kuma into a Pacifista and then in some act of defiance, granted Kuma the capability to veer off of his programming as some silent "Fuck you!" to the World Government.
Vegapunk: Tell me how to build MY death robots and nukes will they? Well, we’ll see about that…

What Kiwi Farmer doesn't have their Porn and Memes autistically sorted into specific folders for easy viewing?
There's still the possibility that for that specific poster the contents of the folder found in One Piece - m/m - rape - unconventional orifices-body deformation-guro-Backbeard/Ace is sufficient that they will still have to search it to narrow down the specific one.

I just realized that Doflamingo is really just a less successful Carl from that Aqua Teen episode where Carl buys a storage unit that contains a Smurf Village and ruthlessly exploits it.

Is there a Carl as Doflamingo edit?

It was likely a sacrifice of some kind. I imagine a Marine/Celestial Dragon had something over Kuma demanding he turn himself in exchange for something he valued. Perhaps someone had custody of Bonney at some point and a condition of him turning himself in was her release. Vegapunk would likely have been ordered to turn Kuma into a Pacifista and then in some act of defiance, granted Kuma the capability to veer off of his programming as some silent "Fuck you!" to the World Government.
we know for a fact that when we first meet kuma he was already in the process of being turned into a pacifista and that by the time we see him again the process is finished with the last part of his humanity left being his desire to protect the straw hats ship until they return.

it could be possible the vegapunk allowed kuma to retain his memories of bonney or that she is the only person kuma or the rest of the pacifista cannot harm even above the five elders.

as far as why he chose to become a pacifista in the first place i think it is because his blood was the thing needed to cure bonney but obviously giving her all his blood would kill kuma so vegapunk decided to turn kuma into a pacifista under the condition that he or the other pacifista never be allowed to hurt bonney then later on he returns to vegapunk to ask that he also programs kuma to protect the straw hats ship after that was done he let himself become a puppet because he knew he would never hurt bonney and that whatever vegapunk was doing with the pacifista would be fine because dragon trusted him.

... then later on he returns to vegapunk to ask that he also programs kuma to protect the straw hats ship...
I just checked to be sure but Kuma wouldn't have any specific motivation to protect the Straw Hats, not even to protect Dragon from becoming a puppet to the whims of the World Government through his son. It wasn't revealed to any member of the Revolutionary Army that Luffy was Dragon's son until after he sent the Strawhats flying. Perhaps Sabaody was the first instance of the Pacifista being unleashed as killing weapons defying that whole "peacekeeping warriors" bit that was mentioned in this most recent chapter. At Sabaody, Kuma wasn't a mindless cyborg yet so perhaps he was displeased with what the Marines were ordering the rest of the Pacifista to do and took it upon himself to save who he could.

After looking back at the events, I believe the Marines captured Bonney at Sabaody and forced Kuma to submit as "punishment" for sending the Strawhats off with Bonney being the World Government's leverage.

That doesn't explain him letting the Strawhats go in Thriller Bark though.

After Zoro does the "nothing happened" thing. We see Kuma talking to himself and saying "To find such loyal companions, your son is indeed amazing Dragon." That was in chapter 485.

So Kuma knew since at least before Thriller bark that Luffy was Dragon's son.
