"Deepfakes" is a reason I'm glad I follow the old way of not posting pics and vids of myself online.

miss: not doxing oneself online being common sense

diss: doxing oneself on "social media" being "common sense"
I hate when I look up porn of somebody online and I get deepfake bullshit instead of the real deal. I also hate when porn sites have normal pictures of people and still call it "porn".

While I'm beating a dead horse, SAAS, or more specifically software which vendor locks "your" data once you decide to leave a cloud solution. Looking at you SAP Cloud :geek:.

If you decide, lets say, you want to switch from SAP On-site to another ERP system then you can export your data and then migrate it to another system. This is not the case for SAP Cloud and SAP has been quite aggressively pushing companies to switch from S/4HANA (on-site ERP) to SAP Cloud. I'm not looking forward towards the inevitable disaster.

I miss when a normal look of OS, productivity software, and websites was "shiny" (such as Windows XP and early Mac OS X). Now it is that "hipster", "smartphone-y", Current Year-ish, flat and boring look (now with "dark mode"). It also seems there's this prevalent "dumbed down and lack of control" feel to Current Year software and websites, or in other words that "watered down smartphone" feel.

I loved old Mac OS X, back before Apple started shitting it up around the time of 10.7 Lion.

I don't like how with 10.4 to 10.7 (Lion), they replaced the search feature that worked just fine with that "Spotlight" crap that has to "index" a volume to work. And they also dropped support for Power PC compatibility and that Classic thing for OS 9- stuff.

(I think Windows can still run older Windows stuff and maybe even DOS stuff?)

For me, the removal of USB A ports for USB C ports on laptops. You'll be extremely lucky to find 3 A ports and 1 C port on a normie Walmart laptop. Just saying, most USB drives and devices are still built on the A format. Gimme my ports back. C is nice and fast, but you have to buy new USB C storage drives to use it

Can't you use USB A to USB C adapter cables?

.
Even better: use a landline for phone and leave computing to consoles, desktops, laptops, and maybe tablets?
nah man, if you aren't calculating and sending the bits themselves then you truly aren't using a computer.

I hate how everything must have rounded corners. Just now I open Edge browser and while the actual program window has corners they do this shitty rounded corners on the web pages. I opened Gmail the other day and the inbox has rounded corners that cut off information at those corners. All phones now have rounded corners.

Make it stop. It doesn't fit and makes me think of bad CRTs that were rounded and cut things off at the corners.
