No, Im saying that a lot of these people are victims of horrendous abuse and are coping in the worst way imaginable. Its funny to go "hurr durr kill em all", but honest to god, sonetimes theyre just people that have no genuine support from friends, family, or community, and are surviving via the pitiful amount of attention and money their super deviant behaviour grants them. Have a fucking soul.
I understand and sympathize with this point of view, and it's a perfectly reasonable position. But it does ignore a very unpleasant fact about humanity: although everyone does indeed deserve a chance to seek help and turn things around for themselves, there are (and always will be) some small portion of people who
will always be broken and cannot be redeemed.
Note that this is one of the hardest things to get a person (including yourself) to understand and accept, which is part of what fuels the "bleeding-heart liberal" stereotype and the time-tested practice of laughing at them when one of their "hard luck" cases stabs and robs them for a hit as they pick them up from rehab to take back to the group home for 3 hots and a cot.
You can't save them all. Some want to be saved but are fundamentally broken (either from the start or as a result of intense abuse), and some just simply do not
want to be saved. You can't really help someone who doesn't want to be helped and actively refuses (and even fights) help. You also can't always repair (or at least heal) serious emotional or mental damage stemming from abuse. It's absolutely tragic and heartbreaking, and I have genuine respect for people who work at homeless shelters, rehab clinics and mental institutions for giving a shit and doing their best to help no matter what, but I can't imagine how soul-crushing that kind of work must be to give it your all only to watch people falter and fail in spite of it.
Bringing this back around to child abuse, the "kill 'em all" sentiment comes from an understanding that there is an "event horizon" of sorts -- a line that cannot be crossed -- beyond which a person becomes irrevocably irredeemable
even if they genuinely regret their actions and desperately want to make proper amends and get help to fix what's broken. We are biologically hardwired to reproduce
and to violently protect our young. There are species that do kill each others' offspring as a matter of course, but humans do not. We (for the most part) consider harming a child viciously awful, and unless you're a pedophile yourself, sexually abusing a child is
universally reviled. That's our event horizon. Cross it, and you're not human anymore; you're a threat to humanity that must be destroyed.
Oh, you're going to get a lawyer? You're going to put your public legal name on record in court, as being some kind of weird furry diaper age regression fetishist pedo? oh I hope someone does, that would be fucking amazing. Have that shit pop up under your court record when you apply for any job or lease, that'll be fun
It
is possible to file a lawsuit as a John/Jane Doe. You generally need a good reason for it though. I'd say "no judge in his right mind would ever actually grant that protection to borderline pedophiles complaining about not being allowed to monetize their hand-drawn CSAM" but then again we just saw a Vice journalist get sentenced well below the maximum sentencing guidelines after being caught with a giant pile of CSAM on his computer, so what the hell ... maybe liberal judges will side with pedophiles after all.
