I’m loving that even in his personal discord he can’t just say “don’t worry, the money is still there, mistakes were made”. Also the shift to “I’d” never do anything wrong or manipulate you seems very telling that he is going to blame someone else for this mess.

I'm not a lawyer but I don't know why a legal professional (assuming he has one and is not just venting to 3 therapists every day) would not just advise him to procure a statement that the money is still there and they're looking into a proper charity. Charity fraud is fairly common (as we can see from this thread, hah! ), so I think that angle is absolutely workable, if still dishonest after what transpired in the Discord call with Karl and Mutahar. Maybe he feels he dug himself too deep and is thinking how to come out of the situation absolutely clean?

My guess is they planned to release a statement earlier, but Muta released a follow up video explaining that Jirard was well aware ahead of time that the call was coming, and consented to it. I would guess they originally planned to muddy the waters by saying there was confusion as to what the conversation was about, but that got blown up and they had to call an audible.

Because the money is almost definitely not there, and the discord logs will be used as evidence in court that he knowingly lied to hide criminal activity. The money is not there, someone took it and it's just about who Jirard can run over with the bus to save himself.

The only possible way he could've mitigated any damage to himself whatsoever was to keep his mouth shut and play dumb from the start, but he just had to try and fix it with that Karl/Mutahar call.

But now that he's incriminated himself by admitting knowledge of the funds just sitting in the account, he's totally screwed. Normally, he might be able to reduce culpability by throwing someone underneath him to the wolves. Problem is, the organization is run by his own family.

He can either sit tight and wait to get fucked in the ass by the feds, or, throw his own flesh and blood under the bus and burn all bridges with them to maybe get fucked in the ass less hard.

He's out of options now. That call was the moment the perp agrees to a police interview thinking he's smart enough to trick them and throw the heat off himself, then ends up screwing himself down the line.

I'd love to give the benefit of doubt that he has no power over the money and is using the TOVG name and brand to get donations in just because that's what he was, but his almost immediate hostility made me worry from the start that something happened to the money.

Got an email back from the Video Game History Foundation regarding Jirard's donation, if anyone's curious

I sent them the following email:
Dear Video Game History Foundation,

I hope this email finds you well. I'm a big fan of Jirard Khalil's work. Recently, I was made aware of Jirard's claim to have donated his 3DS and Wii U digital library to your foundation. However, given the recent charity controversy surrounding him and my inability to find any concrete proof or verification of this donation in Google, I am feeling somewhat wary about it.

I would greatly appreciate it if you could shed more light on this situation and put my mind at ease about Jirard's donation. Any information you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Got this response back, which I've gotten their permission in a separate email to post here, and to which I wanna say that the person who responded to me seems like a pretty nice and swell dude:

We discussed this donation with Jirard at the time the video came out, he did indeed offer the entire library to us. However, we advised him to keep it temporarily, as he's still making use of it on his streams. The reason we did that is because there isn't much we could do with the donation under current U.S. copyright law, so if he gave it now it would just be sitting in our archives instead of being put to good use. We are hoping to be able to offer access to the library remotely in the future, at which point we would discuss the logistics of the donation, but there is no legal way to do this yet. So, long story short: yes, it has been committed to us, but it isn't physically here yet, and that was our decision, not theirs. I hope this answers your question!

I assumed this as well, but I would be kind of let down. Nothing in this thread is really 'bombshell' worthy imo, for instance Mutahar already discussed the golf tournament. My guess is that whoever tipped Karl off probably had something more.

Likely that it's something else, because I can't imagine proclaiming 'I found something that will send this entire family to jail' (granted it's in a private discord server, but the proclamation is now public), and then providing a literal nothing burger, would do well for his reputation as a YT journalist, let alone as a content creator.

Probably (hopefully for his sake) being really careful about this, he's outright saying he will go to prison now when before it was just "We just want to make sure the money is still there". I would take all the time in the world too if I was as sure about something that he seems he is.

Fair, I just hope it isn't copy pasting stuff from this thread and calling it a day, since though there is a ton of fishy shit on the farms, there is nothing that I would consider ironclad proof of fraud.
