I do feel like Clint gets shit on a lot more than deserved. Dad of the year? No, but could you imagine having to deal with Cobes? Like daily fights for hygiene, having to customise every fucking meal, no idea how to act in public, and than he absolute refusal to do as he’s told?

If ‘tapping’ was a skill in and of itself completely differentiated from being good at guitar and having an ear for melody or any of the other basic building blocks for music, then yeah he’s pretty good at tapping.

Unfortunately playing the guitar requires mastering a dozen plus other techniques to add up to the whole of being good.

Being good at tapping notes in the 2 different solo fingerings you learned 12 years ago doesn’t actually do much for being good at playing guitar.

Idk the specifics, but Clint was obviously in his early 20s when he had josh, and who knows the age of his mother but it’s at LEAST the same or younger. Clint probably did about as well as he could’ve with his knowledge set and having such a problematic child in the early 90s, all things considered. A good, Christian father would not let his son rot away his teeth and motor functions alone and without guidance. Cobes clearly needs an extra hand of support in his life.
