What surprises me about the plagiarism is not the fact it happened, but how blatant it was.

Lifting the "hour-by-hour" narrative framing of the article is one thing but he'd be able to get away with that. The problem is the script actually copied segments of the article verbatim. That is so extremely blatant that if he was the one who wrote the script and he thought this was totally OK, similar occurrences would probably surface in a ton of different videos he's done. It wouldn't be hard to figure out. Type parts of his scripts into Google and see if anything comes up. I don't care enough to to try, but it's safe to say people are trying it.

If no other plagiarism is out there, then my guess is that he's started outsourcing scriptwriting and whoever he hired to ghostwrite the cave video was lazy and lifted someone else's work in a really obvious way. I don't know enough about him to know if he's confirmed that people help him with the writing or research. If he hasn't that's my guess why there's been silence.

Generally plagiarists have a pattern of behavior, IH has made a multitude of videos on historical events, he has an entire team he delegates to, with some of these people showing up directly on his other channels. Hbomber has an axe to grind with IH because he's friends with Jontron and other edgy content creators, if the only thing that Hbomber can find on IH is a single video that had to be reuploaded because of some of the most obvious plagiarism imaginable, that isn't represented in any of his other content, I'm going to make the assumption his scriptwriter for that video fucked up.

If IH had not plagiarized the article, he would have fought it. But he didn't. He took it down. The video went up changed. This means he knows he plagiarized the article.

Nobody's arguing that he didn't plagiarize the article and if they are they're retarded. I think everyone's gotten past the denial stage at this point.

If the author had come to an agreement with him to allow this copy, he would have restored the video unedited. But he didn't. That means their compromise is that he'd rewrite everything and credit him, but would not actually purchase rights to the writing he copied.

If I have this right, you're saying because he didn't cite his source in the original version of the video the only way he could possibly make up for it would be if he paid the original author for use of his article?
I don't follow this reasoning. If he came to a compromise with the author then he clearly did come to some sort of agreement, even if that agreement was just to change the script as opposed to paying the original author.
