If IH had not plagiarized the article, he would have fought it. But he didn't. He took it down. The video went up changed. This means he knows he plagiarized the article. If the author had come to an agreement with him to allow this copy, he would have restored the video unedited. But he didn't. That means their compromise is that he'd rewrite everything and credit him, but would not actually purchase rights to the writing he copied.

This is an assumption but it is literally the only logical determination.

You can realize you did something wrong and fix it without making a whole public statement.
Again, a lot of this info about what happened between him and the original author is unknown to us, so at best it's speculation on whether this behavior is him trying to hide that or him fixing a misdeed and not making a public statement about it.
We don't know, and what hbomberguy has done is assume the worse out of those two options off of what he'd PERSONALLY do if he was trying to hide something (and potential dislike of IH as a person).

Seeing people argue in this thread is pretty hilarious lmao

This has been a thing with Harry's videos for years now, deep down there's some genuine point to be made that makes sense but its buried underneath weird politically-motivated snipes and pretty obvious personal grudges he has towards certain people. Him essentially giving Hasan a pass on a 4 hour video about plagiarism pretty much shows he doesn't *actually* care about plagiarism, he just likes using it as an excuse to feel superior to people he doesn't like.

It'd be incredibly embarassing to make an entire video whining about InternetHistorian making fun of SJWs (he didn't actually do this, the mockery was over the constant failures of Dashcon, not their political leanings) so you need to find something he actually did that was bad while still winking to your viewerbase on where you stand on culture war dogshit. It's essentially what left-wing guys would call "dog-whistling".

You can say IH does the same shit with his stuff and edgy 4chan people, but then there's no reason to actually include him in the video beyond friend/enemy disctinction garbage which is pretty much all politics is now anyways.

Yeah, it was a hundred times more entertaining watching Tallarico get exposed because not only was he a plagiarist but a malignant narcissist and a pathological liar, and some of the things he lied about for no apparent reason were really fucking funny. In contrast I don't really give a shit about some gay essayist copypasting from other gay essayists to make a quick buck, sucks for the people he stole from but that's about it.

I love this shit. Hour long video essays where a guy systematically lays out whatever the fuck I don’t care about is prime asmr happy sleep time material for me. Last time I was blessed by such mana from heaven was when some guy accused a smash bros player of being the dark triad second coming of Hitler for multiple hours, I’ve fallen asleep to that video numerous times and that’s my best attempt at remembering whatever the fuck it was.
