hbomberguy / Harry "Harris" Brewis / Slazenger Rapemachine Whiteshaf - "Rational" SJW, former SA goon/LPer, sexual harassment apologist, raised $350K+ for child abuse cult

The end result of this type of plagiarism is a better product for people to consume, which is the best outcome for the consumer, and promotes competition.
maybe, but I reiterate I do not even care about that part, nor should anyone else. anyone that cares about plagiarism is a fag (or more accurately, a useful idiot/malicious actor pretending to care), bloobloobloo you copied my heckin' articlerino!!!!!!
I believe academics and journalists deserve to die and plagiarism to be a morally good action you should take at your convenience. all opposition to my claim is a spook.

Kill journalists. Behead journalists. Roundhouse kick a journalist into the concrete. Slam dunk a journalism student into the trashcan. Crucify filthy reporters. Defecate in a journalists food. Launch journalists into the sun. Stir fry journalists in a wok. Toss journalists into active volcanoes. Urinate into a journalists gas tank. Judo throw journalists into a wood chipper. Twist journalists heads off. Report journalists to the IRS. Karate chop journalists in half. Curb stomp pregnant NYT journalists. Trap journalists in quicksand. Crush journalists in the trash compactor. Liquefy journalists in a vat of acid. Eat journalists. Dissect journalists. Exterminate journalists in the gas chamber. Stomp journalist skulls with steel toed boots. Cremate journalists in the oven. Lobotomize journalists. Mandatory abortions for journalists. Grind journalist fetuses in the garbage disposal. Drown journalists in fried chicken grease. Vaporize journalists with a ray gun. Kick old journalists down the stairs. Feed journalists to alligators. Slice journalists with a katana.

He should have paid the authors for the rights of the work he used to make hundreds of thousands of dollars.
How do you know he didn’t? After the fact, sure, but there isn’t enough information to continue whipping him over this, and I don’t subscribe to the idea that people aren’t allowed to make amends for their mistakes and continue living without being shit on for those mistakes for the rest of their lives.

ETA: you keep using the “if he had, he wouldn’t have uploaded the changed version,” and that’s all just an assumption. Is it not possible that they worked something out behind the scenes and he, having had it pointed out that plagiarism isn’t great, realized that morally he shouldn’t leave up the original video?

Lol

Doesn't matter. I agree with Null's adherence to the law which makes Harris technically correct, despite the fact that there's nothing altruistic about his video.
Regardless of Nulls adherence, the company has not sued IH for plagiarism which either means:

A) They didn't think they had a strong enough case to sue (Ooperator bad faith take)
B) They were satisfied with the edits made to the original video and the credit given (My take)
C) They were satisfied with the edits made to the original video, the credit given, and were possibly compensated (Goodest faith boys take)

If people think Harris gives a shit about plagiarism except for the purpose of scalp collecting, I have a controversial internet site to sell you that I totally own the rights to.

Correct, it's the scalping that tells me Harris is just in it for the sake of drama. Despite being technically correct, the fact is the matter was settled between both parties behind closed doors. How was it settled? Who knows, but the hatchet was buried. Harris then digs up the hatchet and says, "Look what I found!"

If he were truly objective, he wouldn't let his buddy Hasan get away with theft. But I guess Hasan is on the same side he is, ideologically, so he gets a pass.

This is essentially why people should be upset at Harris. None of this was motivated by good faith.

People aren't going to admit I'm right because the accuser is a faggot and the accused is based hungarian meme man. That's just how it goes these days.
I think it's also because the video itself was politically motivated. The guy obviously doesn't care about stealing because he gives Hassan a pass since they're friends and spends time trying to paint IH as like a Nazi for no reason.

However I do agree that IH trying to keep the original up and either pay the article makers or work out a better deal with them would have been conceivably better.

Although "ethically" and legally he's already worked it out half a year ago and there is no problem. I'm sure he's more careful about that sort of thing now and really the only thing you could still go after him for is " he wasn't transparent" but I don't think he has an obligation to explain all the behind the scenes shit and issues he has to the entire world. I don't think 95% of his audience is gonna care.

You remember how hard it was to sympathize with pokimane when she was mad about the cookies blowback or whatever even though you know what a kick in the balls it is to try and move products and sell physical goods? It is extremely easy to blow off unlikeable people and defend likeable people, you have to fight the urge and usually for very little benefit.

Weirdly this same thing makes the farms easy to attack.

So we are just going round in circles at this point.

Here's the real problem, these people make money on the Internet yet they do stupid petty shit like "steal" an article and potentially risk their career for no good reason. Treat your job like a business and life becomes much easier.

Just ask for permission first and give in video credit for the work you're copying. Work something out with the original creator of the work that you intend to use. I'm sure most people would've been more than happy for the advertisement that a spot on an IGN review or IH video would bring.

It's so simple to have an easy life, just be reasonable.

Most if not all of his videos fall under ‘topic already discussed by smaller person, with the same type of structure, titles and thumbnails’

It’s how I know he doesn’t research or cite. Or at the very least did not for the longest time.

And he certainly does not fix mistakes.

I genuinely wonder how much of Harris content fails his plagiarism smell check, people have said he plagiarized several posts from a fallout forum for his fallout 3 video,, but I haven't seen anything definitive.

I expect for at least a month every semi popular youtuber to be hunted down for "plagiarism" by terminally online people until this drama dies down.

This 8-minute video tells you far more than Harris ever will:

The fuck has this thread become, 15 something pages in a day after being barely active for so long. Breadtuber shit rarely gains traction but this thread has been shit up so much by the plagiarism debate. One front page feature, that's all it took. I like shitting on Harry but I don't like it anymore.

No one really owns ideas for things only the form they take. It's not necessarily plagiarism to cover something someone else already has. I only bring it up because I can see people shitting themselves over who was the first to cover X and Y when that's not the problem.

Not saying that's what hbomberguy is talking about but nuance has this funny ability to disappear.
