This. Did IH fuck up by copying word for word the article for his video? Yes. Is The Le Smug Brit pointing it out the plagiarism and content theft only against IH and not anyone from his side (i.e Hasan) because IH and/or his audience made some edgy jokes and Le Smug Brit doesn't like them? Also yes.

I was looking into that, and I thought maybe this video was the reason. This is purely speculative, but here's my thoughts on it...

The long and short of it is Somerton has a problem with the Pride movement becoming too mainstream. Despite it being two gay guys talking about this stuff, there's some pretty based takes. For instance, they talk about the hypocrisy of Pride being a legitimate form of protest when it has corporate sponsorship. My best guess is Somerton has a tendency to say the quiet part out loud.

Breadtubers have a history of holding onto shit they can fling at others when it becomes convenient. Its Contrapoints specifically I believe that pointed out they know dozens of sex pests in the breadtube sphere but refuses to call them out due to friend/enemy distinction nonsense.

I would not at all be surprised if they knew for years that James was a filthy plagiarizing misogynist, and this video was simply the straw that broke the camels back.

They don't like it when other people burst the bubble either. They can't fathom having gay people existing outside the alphabet sphere and being critical of other gays. That hurts every narrative surrounding the progressive stack.

That's the crux of the issue, a lack of accountability from IH regarding how the claim was dealt with and whatever deal he made with the company that sent the claim, but then again it's a fucking YouTuber, he doesn't have to do anything to his fans/viewers, he doesn't own any of them an explanation or an apology, that copyright claim was his business not the business of his community. An explanation, an apology or a Struggle Session, that sort of thing is extremely common amongst BreadTubers and YouTube as a whole, for whatever sin they committed (A sin for the point of view of their community and YouTube as a whole).

IH, as a brand, company, whatever it is, only owned an explanation and compensation, if it came to that, to the company that owns the article, MentalFloss and by extension to Minute Media, the parent company. Since it is IH who was in the wrong for plagiarizing their article for a video without properly referencing his sources, doesn't matter it if was an editor or an intern, it's his company, his brand, his content, his product, his responsibility.

I think at this point, it's beating a dead horse since until we get the exact details of the deal, we can only speculate. At any rate it has been pretty fun, I had a few laughs seeing Null and the other posters going back and forth over IH section of the video and his cave video these last pages.

Also, fuck copyright.

I think he became a target a year ago after he got into some drama with the breadtube streaming platform Nebula (note: hbomb is partnered with Nebula). It seems like he wanted to partner with them, was blacklisted, then tweeted up a storm calling them out for not having enough queer content (despite their platform containing many SPLGBTQIA+).

Dude needs to hire a better editor, so much fat in this video. Remove him talking about how he first found about each youtuber, and that alone would save 20ish minutes of something that really adds nothing to the topic. Also removing pointless digs at people like the person who didn't find that Jimmy Carr video, would not only have saved a little time, would have made Hbomberguy come across less like a twat. Many points where he just repeats himself as well. This video could have easily been 2 hours without losing any of the important information.

But to be fair, is a movement where people think longer the YouTube video is the better, or like having over long videos to just use as background noise, so could see him going for that market rather than to use his time well.

His start of the Internet Historian part sets it up as something being more petty, that he only did this because he didn't like some jokes he made. It's sad because what comes after it is good stuff that IH should be getting mocked for, but if you want to change peoples minds about him that is the worst way to start it, will get many of his fans who may have watched to just turn off rather than to hear what you are going to say, and again just adds pointless minutes to the run time.

My favourite is when someone makes a ten hour iceberg video but then proceeds to cut it up by tiers and upload it as a seperate video.
and if said iceberg actually totals out at one hour and this practice is STILL DONE this becomes quickly fucking annoying.

Maybe but as the Hbomb video shows he's one of those people who replaces every use of "Gay" with "Queer" regardless of context or history. Although I guess like with the misogyny allegation because he complained about women being fag hags and loving gay rape and Jeff Dahmer it might be that he actually doesn't like LGBT but sticks with "Queer" so he can milk money and views from the "uwu I'm a queer NB smol bean I love Yaoi" teenage girls
