Well... I wouldn't call the movie good. I went in wanting to like it, but the script sucks and the story doesn't make any sense. It's a comedy movie, so I can cut it some slack for having characters with motivations that are completely illogical, but it was so bad that it was distracting. Why does this guy put together a team of trannies to dunk on women? I watched the movie and I couldn't tell you. It shouldn't be that hard to come up with a funny scenario that makes sense, but the movie just skips over that part and hopes you won't notice. The acting sucks too, except for the guy who does the Dylan Mulvaney parody, he's amazing.

It's also very preachy, which is something I was afraid of. There's more than one scene where characters are literally just listing off a bunch of real world statistics. It totally takes you out of it and makes you feel like it was written to be anti-tranny first, and a movie second. I get it, trannies are bad. Nobody's going to watch this movie besides people who already agree with that sentiment, and maybe a couple of lefties who want to shit on it, I don't need to be beaten over the head with the message.

Even though I have a lot of bad things to say about the movie, I still didn't hate it. There's a kernel of something good there. It's a comedy, and while not all of the jokes land, some of them are genuinely really funny. And I know I called the acting bad earlier, but there is a bit of a charm to how amateur it is. Also, the little girl who plays the daughter is adorable and the final scene is super cute and heartwarming.

Pirated the movie, and my god it was a really boring slog made for people who already agree with the sentiments made by the movie.

In terms of its messages, it was pretty much what I expected, but for a movie that supposedly was talking about the sanctity of woman's sports, it sure shits on women athletes for the entire movie that any loser who never trained could beat them and if anything seems to basically imply that women's sports are basically a consolation prize for women because men are better at literally every sport.

The messages itself though were extremely preachy and many of the jokes are basically a bunch of anti-tranny memes and other conservative jokes.

There were few good points of the film since both Ben Shapiro and Matt Walsh were probably the funniest actors in the movie that actually got a genuine laugh with the film, and the scene where the black dudes play basketball with the kids was a good scene. However, everything else was just not that funny or overly preachy.

Yeah, you can watch it here: https://www.dailywire.com/videos/lady-ballers
I wonder for how long it's going to stay up.
Well, I watched it. I can't say that I hate it, but I can't say I love it.

Pros:
  • It surprisingly expands on the South Park episode, so now it delves into how journalists are devious motherfuckers, how the fame can get into your head too much, children wanting to transition, etc.
  • All the troons are pissed off from the reactions to the existence of this film.
  • Production design/quality is improving (not entirely there yet).
  • There were some chuckles that came out of me when watching.
Cons:
  • Acting ranging from not good to mediocre at best.
  • Poor soundtrack.
  • Not very good writing. There's a scene where the main character tells his daughter that women keep men in line, and then the ending kinda negates(?) that.
  • It really does seem like a movie that has the feel of an early 2000s comedy, except it's not the early 2000s anymore.
  • Conservatives can't get over their preachiness. A character in this film actually spouts broken family statistics when that was not at all necessary.
I can forgive the characters being retarded because this is a world where men can be women and trans-ageism is a thing, and Jeremy's motivations for trooning his basketball team is to "be a winner" and get famous off of the women's basketball league. But that doesn't necessarily make him likeable.

This wasn't the worse thing ever, though, and hopefully Daily Wire works on top of that.

This movie looks on the same level as"Epic Movie" or "Meet the Spartans" or "Who's Your Caddy?"
Associating this movie with those on an equal level is a disservice to those movies. Those ones areshit, yeah, but they were made by people that genuinely seemed to be having some level of fun and passion for movies to the point they're at least entertainingly bad and have one or 2 actually good jokes. This movie is from what I've seen of it reminds me of those "Youtube Red exclusive" shows where it aped off concepts from pre-existing shit but in a shallow and skinwalker-y way. It's like they're ripping off a bunch of mid 2000s era sports comedies. Benchwarmers and The ringer are the three specific ones that come to mind for what this is trying to copy.

The ringer was a movie about a guy who was'nt disabled pretending to beto enter the special olympics, like the "ladyballers" do with women's sports.
Benchwarmers was about a bunch of loser adults who are shit at baseball forming a baseball team to beat kids. Both are also not high art movies but they are also a lot more worthy of a watch than ladyballers in my opinion. Just skip the imitations with current year politics lingo and lectures and go straight for the source that lacks those.

The real question is will this movie trigger da libs, own the libs, more than Barbie triggered Ben Shapiro and the right?

You're making a comedy film, bashing Troons, and you don't think to tap Graham Linehan? Whatever you think of him personally, he's been a good comedic writer for longer than Ben Shapiro has been alive.
Missed opportunity, there, tbh.
He'd do it just to be able to work, and write comedy, these days.
He would have jumped at the chance, and would have cost very little.

Lady Ballers aired on Farms Movie Night, general consensus was it is the worst movie of 2023 so far that has played there and was debate if it was worse than 1UP from 2022.

There would've been so many edits the film would've never made it out the door.

Its so interesting to see how left and right handle their entertainment. The right wing audience wants it to be accessible for everyone and preachiness is mostly seen as a bad thing, while the left expects their points to be front and center, as subtle as a brick to the face, and if other people dont like it, well, they're just bigots.

so, i'm watching the movie now. finally have some time to sit down and watch this.

first 5 minutes were interesting. some moments made me chuckle, i only laughed out loud once when the two basketball players were choking each other out and made a face. the acting isn't good, a bit too cliche for my enjoyment

jesus, how is it 2023 and people still can't use proper fucking phone ringtone sound design

so far the pacing isn't bad, but they are doing a mask joke where the lady has to take off multiple masks off. it made me roll my eyes and i'm not even the biggest liberal supporter

UGH, they are doing the trans bathroom joke. it's cringey because it's coach and daughter in car, daughter keeps using terms like "transphobic", "gender neutral", etc. i was enjoying it until the gay little conservatard jokes

seeing matt walsh act as a libtard was kinda weird to see but didn't have too many issues with the scene

jesus fucking christ they are hammering every single right wing talking point lol. it's been 10 minutes straight of this shit. i know it's catering to a specific audience but I was trying to put political beliefs aside and expect some but not this much

the jokes are as funny as a "heh" or a "haha" not anything requiring me to laugh

matt walsh's character is funny so far, haven't disliked him yet

if there wasn't so many disses to liberals, i feel like this could be an actual funny movie

journoscum being self aware is based

Mr. Birchum was a long running Carolla character from his Loveline days based on his real shop teacher iirc named Mr. Birchum, and I remember this had a pilot on Comedy Central or Adult Swim years ago. Like a lot of Carolla stuff it will probably be very funny the first 5 episodes but then the next five will be run down into the ground with the same joke/premises.

What is starting to be very gay about the DW stuff that keeps popping up is I want to see actual entertainers/actors doing things, not the DW staff being incorporated into the stuff. That cast is pretty decent in terms of older comedians likely all blacklisted from modern hollywood, although I thought Alonzo Boden was a big liberal so he must actually be a friend doing a favor for Carolla. But I don't want Megyn Kelly, Candace Owens and Brett fucking Cooper doing voices for the show. It always had an undercurrent of this, but the DW more and more reeks of starfucker syndrome.

I think the expectation is that as they have more talent coming in, they won’t need to hire the same newscasters and whatnot to their work. Brett Cooper does have an acting career and is young, so they’ll probably keep using her, but the others have their own respective places to go to. Maybe they’re just taking notes from Stephen Colbert, who was in Harvey Birdman.
