I always hated the hobbies advice because it's old, boomery, and most of all misguided. The way women and men spend their time just isn't the same. Even today when nerd culture is at its peak, you aren't going to your local Magic tournament and finding your forever waifu. If there's even one girl there, she's probably with her boyfriend. If you guys want girlfriends, you go to where women ARE. Whether it's bars, events, concerts, or just in stores. You go to where you expect women to be. Maybe it'll be hobby adjacent, but if these old boomer faggots expect you to meet of the love of your life at a hunting convention/expo, they're gay and retarded.

You want dating advice? It's real simple. Go to the gym, get in shape and take care of yourself. Then just talk to women, anywhere. Yes #Metoo is a thing, keep that in the back of your mind. Avoid online dating apps completely. Women are under ZERO obligation to respond to you. You will get nowhere fast. When you just be a good conversationalist, you'll get whatever you want. Once you do that, always remember, women will do ANYTHING for man they really want. They'll abandon their own children, break the law, and take beatings every single day for a man they love. If you are not that man, do not marry her. You have to really pay attention and fish out if there are any signs like that. That's how you keep yourself from being 55 and divorced or married and miserable.

Having a hobby is good for social interaction in general, still. As long as you don't go full sperg and infodump top ten most powerful steam locomotives in 1880-1900 England, you're good. Talk about the places you've went to, sorts of friends you've made in the hobby, that kind of stuff a layman would want to hear about.

I don't think anyone builds relationships solely on liking one specific *thing*, but liking things makes you look like a capable and contributing friend/partner.

I don't think so and I don't suggest it. Between foids, trolls, and Null getting understandably tired of the redundancy of these threads, it probably wouldn't end in anything productive. Besides, take a lesson from Lidl Drip. Nutjob or not, all that girl wanted to do was make a hug box and outlet for her shitty opinions on guys. It just so happened that her thread pissed off a lot of people. Making it a DeMoided Zone that banned people from the Beauty Parlor, warning or not, pretty much guaranteed that anyone with a dick between her legs was going to not like her by default. When you make a thread like that, it can and will become your identity whether you like it or not.

Back when I was a teenager and followed the MTG scene (especially the happenings in the Pro Tours), what I noticed was that the adult men in those hobby shops tended to be married or with a girlfriend. There were fat unfuckable types, but those guys were definitely not the majority.

With how expensive that game can get, it's understandable that you need to be a functional adult to clear the entry barrier.

Who knows how things have changed? It's been nearly a decade since I last turned that rock.

I think with dating advice there's a lot of cope online especially among women because they like to imagine that if young men just [insert list of steps] then women, the graceful and logical creatures that they are, would reward them with affection and everyone would live happily ever after.

Obviously that's silly, we all know it doesn't work that way. It's not that simple a process, especially if someone's a depressed asocial internet weirdo.

Hell, I think that's why a lot of female users buy into the idea that Josh has some secret wife he's hiding away from the world, because he runs the website and fights the good fight and doesn't sit around jerking off to anime 24/7, and obviously any man who lives by his principles like that would be rewarded with wife and family.

They really don't like coming to terms with the fact that the reason a lot of dudes act pitiful or shitty, is because there's often very little (extrinsic) reward for putting in the effort not to. Professional, romantic, or otherwise.
